Posted By: Bakakage Posted On: Sep 1, 2005 Views: 861 | RE: How's the price of gas now? Where the hell you from turtle? Im out in gilbert which is usually cheapest gas in metro phx and its 2.99 for unleaded here (except a few places that didn't gouge) We had this bullsh*t that "a pipeline broke and stopped the flow into the city causing shortages" but according to the commision in charge of the gas and stuff they said the pipelines have been fully functional for months...so basically these gas stations intentionally shorted themselves a little. They gouged prices an avererage of 30cents/gallon overnight. |

Posted By: James Posted On: Sep 1, 2005 Views: 837 | RE: How's the price of gas now? CNBC Market Dispatches 9/1/2005 2:49:22 PM ET Gas prices keep on soaring Supply shortages spur prices above $5 in Georgia, but analysts warn everyone will see big increases. It's a gasoline problem, not a crude problem, they say -- and it's temporary. Gas prices nationwide are spiking almost as fast as station owners can change their signs, the result of fuel pipeline shutdowns and delayed deliveries since Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana and Mississippi earlier this week. Stations in and around downtown Atlanta had temporarily run out of gas, the Associated Press reported. The same was reported elsewhere, including parts of North Carolina, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Arizona. Many retailers who did have gas had no clue when their next shipments would come in. How high can gas go? "I do think there will be pockets of stations in the country in the next two weeks that will price $4 (per gallon)," Ben Brockwell, independent analyst and director of Pricing and Data Services, told CNBC. |
Posted By: James Posted On: Sep 1, 2005 Views: 836 | RE: How's the price of gas now? Save 30 cents a gallon on gas If you see E85 fuel pumps in your area, check your owners manual. Millions of drivers could use it and save a bundle In an era of $2.30-a-gallon unleaded, its possible to fill your tank for $2 a gallon or even less. Why? Because you may have an alternative-fuel vehicle and not even know it. Car manufacturers -- especially GM, Ford and Chrysler -- have put literally millions of what are known as flexible-fuel vehicles on the road. These cars and trucks can burn either plain old gasoline or a mixture of gasoline and ethanol, a type of alcohol. The mix is known as E85. Flex-fuel vehicles are not exotic; its likely that youve driven at least one without knowing it. Among those sold over the last decade are many Ford Tauruses, Explorer SUVs and Ranger pickups; Chrysler and Dodge minivans and Stratus and Sebring sedans; General Motors full-size SUVs and pickups; and even two Mercedes sedans. (See the complete list below.) About 4.5 million flex-fuel vehicles are on the road, according to the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition. Their fuel systems have a few key changes that keep alcohol from corroding metal parts. http://www.e85fuel.com/index.php |
Posted By: cuppajane Posted On: Sep 1, 2005 Views: 834 | RE: How's the price of gas now? another great way to save immdediately is by planning errands and not just driving all willy nilly with no direction. I'm pretty lucky, I can bike to lots of places nearby (groceries, banks, post office and even the friggin mall). Since we got the little Scion, I've put a whopping 30ish miles on my truck. I have a full tank as of Monday and have put a locking cap on it. Back in the 70's gas shortage, we had gas ciphened from our cars and that just sucked. |
Posted By: Quokka07 Posted On: Sep 1, 2005 Views: 816 | RE: How's the price of gas now? Actually, the majority (i believe) of your normal unleaded petrol cars will run on a mix of about 15%ethanol fuel without damaging the engine or needing any engine modifications. Although the ethanol is cleaner-burning, it produces less energy, and because people are selfish, they dont like it for that reason. We had an ethanol-in-the-petrol scandal around here a while back... |
