Gas prices

Were at $3.19 now. The Captan D's close to the house is closed. The sign says that they "will remain closed until the gas prices drop or the company gives us gas cards."

I think trent works there. He seems to be a little disgruntled.

Your perception is as sharp as a pair of playschool scissors.

RE: Gas prices

That is stupid, so they want their employer to go broke because gas prices are high? Whatever...what do they really hope to accomplish, except get themselves a really low paycheck...brilliant...

RE: Gas prices

No, thats anybody thats making $5.15 an hour, has kids to drive around, and is only getting 20/30 hours a week. I feel for those people. I'm doing pretty good now and it still bothers me that I'm putting over $100 a week in my gas tank. (1990 Oldsmobile Royal 88)

Remember when I said I wanted a old car that I could fix up a few weeks ago? Well, this isn't it, but I have gotten started on that electric car. I have discovered something. Some people usa regenerative breaking, or a fifth weel, or even sola panels to hepl generate power so the car can go further withought having to recharge.

Well, instead of a car, I've found a small truck works better, like and S10 or someting. The bed gives more room for the bateries than a car, it's just as light, and it has something most cars people are using for conversians don't have, a drive shaft that is fairly exposed. Most people try to use a front weel drive car.

Here's the thing. Use a steel drive shaft. Magnatize it, either permanatly, or divert some of the power to turn it into an electromagnet. Put a coil around the whole thing. You now have a genorator that goes down half the length of the truck withought taking up any more room, nor adding much more weight, and the faster the truck is moving the more power is generated. If made efishient enough you could drive the truck for days withought a recharge.

The batery cover for the bedcould also be covered in solar panels, with another sheet of plexyglass over that to protect it, giving extra power on sunny days, and a fifth weel could power another genorator where the gas tank used to be.

Now I've got a problem. I don't have a donor truck to work on, nor a garadge, nor the money. If anybody wants you can get the design from me by e-mail.

RE: Gas prices

Umm... that generator is not going to work. For more reasons that I care to explain right now, but for starters, if you get electricty out of it, it's going to increase your drag by even more than you're getting out.

The other big point is that you need to have magnetic field lines cutting through coils. You'd have to poll your drive shaft from side to side, rather than end to end, and have seperate coils for left and right. You certainly couldn't wrap a coil round and get anything out.

There are some good texts, without requiring a lot of background knowledge by a man called Forrest M Mimms III available at Radio Shack, I believe. I think there is a 'mini-engineer's notebook' on electromotive projects or some such thing. I'd have a look at that first if I were you, to get your head round the principles.

Easy there, he is still trying to get his head around how a plunger works so lets take it slow.
