I'm very disappointed. Had this poll genuinely been asking the question Who was responsible for the disaster (which someone already stated was the question, meaning who was responsible for things getting as bad as it did), then this would be a different case as it would be proposing legitimate discussion on the topic. (However, as everyone here knows this audience wouldnt take that question seriously either, but thats a different issue.) But the fact is that there are options given (like Shakira and Joan Cusack) which are obviously poking fun at the situation. This is a very funny website. There has been a lot of great satire and opinions and madness and insanity over the last two years, but this is none of that. Im very disappointed. |

It is not making fun of anything but the incompetence of the idiots in charge. Funny how everything said here no matter how sick and twisted is fine until it personally offends you and then it is an outrage. I am offended by someone wasting 4 years on a degree in creative writing but I didn't get my panties in a bundle over it here. |

There were also spanish, white, hmong, and asian effected as well. This has nothing to do with race. It is because the government was too slow to act. It would have been the same thing had Salt Lake City flooded. |

And whats the most ironic is that it seems as though he agreed with me on what I said seeing as the options I specifically pointed out as making fun of the situation have been removed. And back to attacking me about being a creative writing major... which I seem to remember you doing many times before... get bent! Get better insults! If you're going to tease me about it at least have an insult worth saying. Second of all: and this is the biggest one... one day when you have a huge 401k plan, three children that hate you, a wife that hasn't slept with you since you conceived the second child, and a maid who thinks you're a half-witted pervert, you'll realize that having a career that makes you rich isn't the only important thing in life. I'm not trying to become a millionaire as a creative writing major. I want to teach, I want to write, and I want to have an impact on peoples lives in as many ways as I can. If that makes my college career and ambitions a waste of time, then so be it... but just remember Mr. "I'm an engineer and because of that I'm better than everyone," having a degree from a good school and a fancy retirement party many years down the road when you decide to give in to your laziness doesn't mean that you were ever actually worth anything. So to you Dole, I say eat shit, and get off my ass. You're a jerk to me and everyone else because you're jealous that you're existence is, and forever will be worthless. |

Maybe you need to wander out into the desert and do some soul searching to figure out why this bothers you so much. Maybe you can log some couch time with one of your parents. Sorry you took the college thing as an insult. I was just saying it offended me that someone would waste their time and money when they can just go directly to McDonalds for a job. If I wanted to insult you a would have attacked your sexuality or should I say, lack of. One day when you are sitting in your studio apartment overlooking downtown Boise and opening up the last can of tuna before payday while reading another rejection letter for that novel you just know is going to be published you will realize that maybe the whole creative writing field isn't what it is cracked up to be. Maybe you didn't really impact anyone's life except for that freshman you knocked up and the wife and kids that found out about it. You will look back on this and wish you had put a little more thought into making a real living. When that day comes let me know. I will gladly give you a quarter to call someone who gives a damn. You know what is the funniest thing yet? Both my hands work. |

A few year into it when you realize you are getting older and your wife doesn't look as good as she once did, you will have an affair with one of your freshman students. She will go to your wife and tell her because she can't live with the guilt of sleeping with her professor. She will leave you and so will your wife. All you will have left is alimony and child support to remind you of the past. |
