The Truth About the Levees

George W. Bush caused the levee breach becuase he wanted the flood to happen. There was explosions reported before the levees broke open. One barge loaded with explosives went first!

RE: The Truth About the Levees

Someone tried to tell me that Led Zeppelin's song When the Levee Breaks is about New Orleans, written thirty plus years ago, but I read the lyrics and I don't see it. Has anyone else heard that? The song does mention going to Chicago, and it mentions mountains.

He explained to me that New Orleans was Zeppelin's favorite US city...I can't see that either...

The truth about our song is that everytime we went to New Orleans, we took a shit right in the street. I think thats it.

RE: The Truth About the Levees

And I'll this time I've been feelin' like a schmuck for having "When The Levee Breaks" going through my head...

If it keeps on rainin’, levee’s goin’ to break,
If it keeps on rainin’, levee’s goin’ to break,
When the levee breaks I’ll have no place to stay.
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Lord, mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.
Don’t it make you feel bad
When you’re tryin’ to find your way home,
You don’t know which way to go?
If you’re goin’ down south
They go no work to do,
If you don’t know about chicago.
Cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good,
Now, cryin’ won’t help you, prayin’ won’t do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
Thinkin’ ’bout me baby and my happy home.
Going, go’n’ to chicago,
Go’n’ to chicago,
Sorry but I can’t take you.
Going down, going down now, going down.

Evidentally, we're not the only ones wondering...

My guess, it's probably a song with a dual meaning... The thought of the levee breaking is not knew, especially since "It's based on a 1929 recording of the same name by Blues artist Memphis Minnie McCoy (born Lizzie Douglas). Robert Plant had the record in his collection."
