| Posted By: Japanese Girls Rule Posted On: Sep 9, 2005 Views: 92 | THE BLAME GAME The Bush administration's new tactic for dealing with criticism over its handling of Katrina is to say that criticism equals a "blame game." They're saying this over and over, like a broken record. Somebody took a poll and discovered that the word "blame" has a lot of negatives, so they're trying to plaster it on their critics. It's all about the angle of language attack. If you say "Stop playing the blame game," you sound like you're being grown-up -- "blame" is what kids do when somebody's spilled the milk. But take a few steps to the side and look at this from a different angle. The people who are being charged as "blamers" are really telling the president, "Take responsibility. Be a grown-up!" If President Bush had gotten up the morning after Katrina and said, "I take responsibility for this situation and we're going to work as hard as we know how, stay up round the clock, do everything in our power to save our citizens' lives," there'd be no blame game for anyone to play. But he did nothing of the kind. Then he compounded the mistake by letting his underlings play a "blame game" of finger-pointing at local officials. Then he had the nerve to have his press office minions complain about everyone else playing the "blame game." The American people -- and, yes, among them are a lot of angry politicians and journalists, and a multitude of voices here on the Net who have no credentials but their own outrage -- aren't playing games. They're angry with a leader who failed his people, and who still doesn't understand what it means to take responsibility in a crisis. |
| Posted By: Eve Posted On: Sep 9, 2005 Views: 78 | RE: THE BLAME GAME Uhhh yea ok. the president released funds for FEMA before the hurricane hit, the red cross was there waiting to deliver food, water and other supplies to New Orleans right after the hurricane hit. But the Democrat Governor would not let them in. What the hell do you want the president to do fly down there with a cape on singing 'Here I come to save the day!!!'The president did what he could do, he released the funds to get the ball rolling, its not really his fault that the ball got bounced on the way down. Heres the story i was talking about. if you dont trust the source then look it up yourself. (AHN) - A report on Fox News from correspondent Major Garrett Wednesday night reveals a major break into what exactly went wrong at the Louisiana Superdome in the days after Hurricane Katrina struck the city. An American Red Cross representative tells Fox News that the Louisiana State Homeland Security Department refused the relief organization permission to take food and water to the Superdome because they did not want to "encourage people to go there." They State office of Homeland Security wanted to get people out and were afraid that providing support would be a "magnet" attracting more displaced citizens of New Orleans. | Posted By: dude Posted On: Sep 22, 2005 Views: 37 | RE: THE BLAME GAME come on, the president is NOT responsible for a natural disaster. you can't hold him responsible for something like this. if you're going to respond with "he should have had a plan" then you're wrong again because the president can't possibly be expected to worry about what's going to happen to every city hit by a hurricane. if you are in charge of a city that is underneath the water level, you'd damn well better have a plan for this. If it's anyone's fault, it's the mayor's, not the president's. |
