IRQs

"To get my dual monitor setup working, I had to disable ACPI in Windows 2000 and assign the IRQs myself."

I need to do what the quote says... I think. I have two video cards and I cant make both of them work at the same time. I know I have to go into BIOS somewhere and I found the part for IRQs. I just dont wanna do the wrong thing.

Anyone know?

RE: IRQs

IRQ = Interrupt Request Queue

basically, each device typically has its own IRQ unless it's a low-priority device and it can share with other low-priority devices.

these are usually numbered 1-16 or so. what the quote is saying is that the guy had a video card with an autoconfig that was trying to use the same IRQ as another device and they were conflicting. by setting the IRQs manually, he was able to bypass this.

write down ALL the current settings before you change anything

RE: IRQs

now that ive started to get this dual display thing, i gotta have it....its ****ing me off tho....heres the deal

I have Win2k.
I have a card in the AGP slot, and one in PCI.
Only the AGP works. In Device Manager it says the PCI "cannot start".
In BIOS, I change it to boot to PCI instead of AGP and it shows up on my other monitor like it should. In Device Manager, it says they are both working correctly. Only when it boots to the PCI though. Still no dual display option.
Just earlier I tried 2 PCI cards and no AGP. No difference.

I thought it was an IRQ problem. I fucked around with some settings but never reassigned anything. In win2k it cant "rebalance" the IRQs to make them work.

I know that the card I have works with dual display, because it said it on another forum the guy was trying to use an S3 and the problem sounded like mine, but his solution didnt solve my problem.

RE: IRQs

FYI - MCI went to ABC, told them TMI about CBS, NBC called MCI and asked them about what MCI said to ABC about CBS, turns out JFK was shot by MCI and now MCI is MIA drinking PBR with the KGB, MCI might end up DOA back in the USA. WTF?
