E-mail wedding cake?

You all know of the situation with me and Beth. In a nutshell for everyone who don't know. Best friends turns into best friends forever turns into love you like a brother (ouch) turns into no contact for a few months turns into only calls me when she needs something or boyfriend ****es her off somehow.

So I promised a few months ago to do their wedding cake. I didn't get a date for it, or design or anything, just asked me if I'd do it. Yesterday I get an E-mail that she wants it next ****ing week, still no concrete design or flavor (thinking fall colors and carrot cake, but not sure)

Is it just me or is it ****ed up that she e-mailed me asking me to do it next week? I know it's ****ed up for me to do the cake, whatever. It would really help me in finalizing the fact that nothing is ever going to happen between us. I'm thinking she should at least call or something if she wants me to do it. I've never had a friend that would not make contact for over a month then expect a free wedding cake. I told her I don't care to do it yet why is she not calling. I think to much on this and wonder what you people think. Do I have a right to be ****ed? Is it a test? WTF?

It's kind of hard to e-mail her back and say that I cant do the cake because I'm nearly blind. I cant drive over there and tell her, cant drive anymore. (BTW, Dragon Naturally speaking is a great program)

Anyway, I'm just looking for advice.

You're ****ed up if you think you're going to get any good advice. It isn't like you haven't been told this before though.

RE: E-mail wedding cake?

Don't ever contact her again.

Ignore all emails / phone calls. If you run into her somelace tell her you have been really busy, brush her off quickly, and continue with the no contact.

Oh yeah, you also have to grow a pair first.

I was wrong. You got good advice. You most likely already emailed her back though so your screwed.

RE: E-mail wedding cake?

I would say that you are feeling very hurt because you can finally see her for who she really is. You had hoped that she was different, that she really cared about you, but possibly she was using you? Obviously, I don't know the whole relationship, but I think you set yourself up for that one, buddy...I think you should tell how it made you feel, that she blew you off and then still expected the cake. If YOU really want to make the cake because you really care for her and you want to keep your word even though she isn't as into the friendship as you are, then go ahead...there is nothing wrong with being a nice person, but just realize that you are doing it for you, because you are a nice guy, not because she is such a great person to you.

Relationships sometimes go good and sometimes they go bad, but you have to know when it is time to heal and move on if you are being taken advantage of. One-sided relationships suck.

RE: RE: E-mail wedding cake?

James, you have to email her back and tell her one week is not enough time. You needed a month advance notice and she didn't give you any idea of what she wanted - you have other committments (make up something if you have to).

She's getting married to some jerk and using you. She's not even worth it anymore - what's the point once she gets married? Her boyfriend is laughing at you for making their wedding cake because he knows what you want and can't have.

This is a chance for you to stand up for yourself and start building some self-respect.

DO NOT MAKE THAT CAKE!

Ditto the JC's advice. That the only right thing to do in this case.

I doubt you'll do it though. You should have done it ages ago.

Time to man up for once, buddy.

E-mail wedding cake?

Wow, that was unexpected. Thanks guys. I haven't sent her back an e-mail. Normally I would drive over there and tell her myself, but thats not a possibility at this point. I know she comes here once in a while so I'll let this be my way of telling her, ****ty as it may be, but no different than what she did to me.

I know some of her former boyfriends, she didn't used to be this way. I may be overdoing it a bit, but it seems to me she learned a lesson from Dusty.

What lesson was that? That no matter what she does you will bitch and moan about it?

RE: E-mail wedding cake?

amen adam.

james, go a step further. insult and berate her. maybe even threaten her. that way if you get weak and want to apologize (which is bound to happen you snivelling pussy) it won't matter because she'll change her number or screen your calls or something. man, you're pathetic. why don't you at least tell us some entertaining lies for crissake? anything would be preferable to your usual 'sigh i'm so hard done by' ****.

and the rest of you don't humor this idiot! although i suppose that's what i'm doing...
