| Posted By: Phil Taylor Posted On: Dec 7, 2005 Views: 372 | Politics are like sports It seems nowadays politics are like sports, whereas you support your party no matter what. If your team is in favour of something you defend them right or wrong. If your party changes their mind, so do you. Where is the independent thinking? People who blamed Mike Harris for the Walkerton scandal because it happened under his watch, even though he had very little to do with it, now defend Paul Martin because though the sponsorship scandal happened under his watch, he had very little to do with it. The people who said tax cuts are bad because taxation is the price we pay for a civilized society now are saying tax cuts are good because their party endorses it. The people who said the GST is a bad tax are now against the reduction of the GST because their party does not support the reduction of the GST. No party seems to support the idea of campaign funds coming from the government purse so as all parties have an equal chance with the the voters and politicians are not beholding to those who contribute to their campaign. Why? Is that where they really make their money? Most Canadians are socially liberal and fiscally conservative, but in order to vote for fiscal responsibility you must endorse a party that is also socially conservative. Likewise if you are socially liberal you must endorse a party that is also fiscally liberal. Despite this however, I think this time around we do have a good group of leaders who do reflect the nature of their parties even though they may not reflect the nature of Canadians. If Paul Martin, Steve Harper, Jack Layton, and Gilles Duceppe were in a sinking boat on lake Ontario who would survive.....? Canada :) Thank you for the opportunity to vent. :) |
| Posted By: Spike Posted On: Dec 7, 2005 Views: 359 | Spike for PM! I am the only real choice for prime minister! I have never lied to my constituents, I have never misappropriated funds into my personal account, I really care about people, the environment and HONESTY, TRUTH and INTEGRITY. I promise to protect the needs of the people and the land, water and air. I will not deal with war criminals like Bush (or Kerry) or Blair, or any other leaders of countries that have been swallowed up by corrupt government and "big business, multi national corporations" like Dupont, Halliburton, Diebold, etc. Let the people rule OVER the government, not the other way around. Peace and love |
