This man, who you so cheered on in his execution has tried to make a difference. YAY! Hooray for the death of someone who tried to make a difference!! YES! I know his mistakes, but again, prison is for rehabilitation, and this man made a huge impact in many lives, and will continue to after his death. And you know? It's sad, this death will mean many lives will not be touched or influenced by the good he's strived for for so long. Because he'll be dead. And YAY! Thank God for the death of a good influence! It is where they go to wait to die. Tookie got twenty five years of extra live past his sentence which is more than can be said of the 4 people he brutally killed with a shotgun. They didn't have the chance to write kids books. The fact of the matter is he slaughtered 4 people, was convicted of it, and sentenced to death. Today he has to pay that sentence. There was no stipulation that if he wrote some nice books he could be spared. He never repented and he never cooperated with police. I won't cheer his death but lets stop painting this guy as a saint. I'm sure if it was your parents or grandparents he killed for $100 you would not be so forgiving just because he suddenly developed a conscience after being sentenced to death. |

I'm not even going to pretend that I know enough about the situation to evaluate this specific case, but the more I look at it, the less I like capital punishment in general. Its only possible use is to be a deterent to crimes, and it's been proven that countries without the death penalty have lower homicide rates. Not only that, but it costs more to keep someone on death row for a while and then kill them then it does to jail someone for life. Oh, and don't even try to say you get your news from Fox. Anyone with half a brain knows that what they show is anything but news. |

If I was going to kill somebody, I would always have that nagging thought in the back of my head that the person was innocent. I'm not saying Tookie hasn't done horrible things that should put him behind bars for life, but doesn't it seem weird that a guy who's willing to admit he started one of the most violent crimes in the US won't admit to killing four people? He deserves life for sure, but I don't get anyone who's ecstatic over killing another person. |

Kind of like Manson except Manson never actually killed anyone and only had a few people in his gang. So the guy gets sentenced to death for murder. Fine. Had it been carried out 5 years after his conviction, nobody would have batted an eye. Twenty some odd years later though, and he's rehabilitated? I don't think so. Sure he changed, how could you NOT change after being on death row for so long? He got rid of his badass attitude and actually felt bad about what he did. Good, at least now he knows what it feels like to be a helpless victim. Rot in hell, Tookie wookiekins. |
