CP has utterly distroyed Stockport County FC

I wrote on this site exactly one year ago following the joint departure of Mike Flynn leaving the club and my boycott of any game while Carlton Palmer is in charge. I have not been since, but it has saddened me to see him distroy this wonderful Football Club which is heading nowhere but the bottom division.

Invest NOW for promotion

County need to invest in a few quality players to strengthen the team for next season. I would bring in Mark Tyler (Goalkeeper) Peterborough, Paul Evans (Midfield) Brentford, Ben Burgess Striker (Blackburn Rovers), Damien Delaney (Midfield,)Mark Arber (Defender) Barnet, Andy Dawson (Defender) S****horpe.
BE should make money availbale to CP in order that we assemble the strongest squad to go for an allout attempt on promotion at the first time of offering. It can be done, but we will need a stronger squad to do it. Brendan give Carlton the cash NOW and see the rewards at the gate, with sponsors revenue increasing and a bigger financial cut, when we achieve a return to Division One. You know it makes sense but we will only get Monkeys if we offer Peanuts.

Is Palmer losing the plot or is Kilner in charge

I was extremely suprised when Carlton rushed into the signing of Luke Beckett, as he tried to make amends for fouling up of the purchase of Chris Greenacre. Now reading from the official website of Blackpool, a deal is being lined up to sign John Murphy for £150k plus Scotty Taylor. BOTH BECKETT AND MURPHY, ANDY KILNER TRIED TO SIGN A WHILE AGO. I though Palmer didn't want players at County who Andy had signed, but it seems that Carlton is now trying to purchase players Andy had looked at. Is he going to blame Andy if it all goes wrong? In my opinion County are wasting money. They should be investing in quality players capable of winning matches and not trying to build a team to consolidate our position in Division Three, because that is where we are heading if this farce is allowed to continue!

No more support

I have been a supporter of Stockport County through thick and thin for over 50 years. I have watched in disbelief the goings on since the arrival of Carlton Palmer. But today something inside of me died, following the departure of Michael Flynn, my love for Stockport County. I will not attend another match, as I have been truly disgusted at how Carlton Palmer has set about the task of ripping apart my beloved team and has utterly distroyed Stockport County. I hope you true supporters will follow my example and make Brendan Elwood realise just what he has done. Boycott the game against Crystal Palace if you want to make a stand. Mike Flynn should have been made manager of Stockport County once a truly grat football club, now lying in ruins. Your responsible Mr Palmer

Yes, we are the friendly club

County are to continue their policy of paying the earth for no good players and then a few months later let them go for nothing.
Latest free transfer is Jarrko Wiss. Didn't he cost £350k eighteen months ago. Someone needs to look at how the finances are spent at the club and be more wise in the future. County's bad management policy is costing the club a lot of revenue. Will they be able to survive?

Transfer listing player will not improve morale.

All this talk of Wiss, Helin and possibly Fradin being put on the transfer list seems like we are managing by fear. Surely this is not the way to build team spirit and morale. I am sure most of the players now feel deflated. Last season we had a struggling side and sold Nash, Dinning, Cooper and Moore. Players that have NEVER been replaced. In the summer only £15k was spent on Hardy, Taylor and Helin. This did not improve the squad as they were not better than anyone we already had. By not bringing in better players is the reason the club are routed at the bottom of this division. You don't have to spend a lot, but you need to spend wisely. Look at the money we have wasted on Lawson, Carrigan, Hurst and Wiss, all players that could be really performing now, if we had let them regain their confidence in a successful reserve side. County should have invested in Greenacre and another 20 goal a season striker a couple of months ago and not spent £100k on a palyer inferior to Hurst or anything we have at the club. Players see records and they know that Greenacre's pedigree is far superior to Beckett. Ido beleive that Andy Kilner would have resolved are position by now and that we would not have lost the last 5 matches. We would probably have 20 points by now and with hope of moving up the league, but the longer we leave it to find a couple of goal machines the harder it will become.

County to blow another three points away?

County seem intent on distroying team spirit and morale with players being placed on the transfer list one by one, at a time when comradship should be encouraged. Our problem, as it has been all season, is scoring goals at crucial times and prolific goalscorers should have been brought in by now. Beckett has not a record that is anywhere near 20+ a season and County need two players capable of doing this at our level. It is going to take a miracle to stay up. Laurie Sanchez did this at Wycombe two years ago and then took the club to the FA Cup semi's the following year. It can be done, but County seem to want the mountain to climb to be impossible before attempting it. What are Palmer, Richardson and Murphy doing about it?

County to miss out on Thorpe

Chairman John Laycock has assured City fans that the club have no intention of selling transfer-listed Tony Thorpe in the immediate future.
Following the announcement that Thorpe would not be signing a new contract at the end of the season, he was placed on the list. The reason given for the move was that City needed to attract a bid, rather than just waiting for the 27-year-old to walk away under the Bosman Ruling.
But, since then, Thorpe has continued to be the club's most lethal marksman, causing concern that selling him might seriously affect City's promotion chances.
After Saturday's win at Cambridge United, the team's fifth successive victory, Lee Peacock added his voice to those urging the board to resist any temptation to sell strike partner Thorpe.
The pair have now netted 20 goals between them this season, and Peacock said: "Thorpey's flying at the moment and I'll be devastated if he leaves."
Laycock has now made it clear that the board share the view that Thorpe's goals are more valuable to the club than a relatively small transfer fee.
He said: "There is so much to be gained by winning promotion and, if Tony can help us do it, we'll be delighted. While we felt it sensible to see if there might be any cash offers for him, we fully recognise his importance to the team.
"His goals are certainly worth more to us than, let's say, £100,000 or £200,000. And I still wouldn't rule out him changing his mind about staying with us if we did manage to get back into the First Division."

County to lose off the field as well?

Millwall are set to enter the race for Mansfield's highly-rated striker Chris Greenacre, who Mark McGhee watched in action at the weekend.
Greenacre has attracted interest from several clubs, and although Mansfield are determined to try and hang on to their star player, Millwall have money to spend and could easily surpass the £250,000 offer Luton have had rejected.
Stockport and Wigan are also keen on the talented 23-year-old, who was watched by McGhee when Mansfield played Oxford at the weekend. Greenacre did not manage to add to his 20-goal tally, but his all-round play impressed the boss who is expected to follow up his interest with a formal offer.
Millwall have already made an enquiry about Greenacre and believe they can bring the player to The Den. Mansfield are now braced for a bid, which is likely to be tabled before the end of the week

Another Ian Wright?

The Royals are among a number of clubs who have been watching Crawley Town's young striker Rob Collins in recent games.
Collins has played a part as The Reds have fired themselves to the top of the Doc Martens Premier Division table.
The 21-year-old non-league hit-man has been told that he will have to stay at Crawley until at least the end of the season.
The Sussex-based club are fighting for promotion to the Conference and see Collins as a major component in their team.
Crawley boss Billy Smith famously uncovered former Arsenal star Ian Wright whilst at Greenwich Borough and appears to have unearthed another gem in Collins, having described him as the best he has seen.
West Ham, Charlton, Tottenham, Millwall and Portsmouth have also been linked to the forward

Other strikers around

I was disappointed with the signing of Luke Beckett, Apart from Greenacre and Tony Thorpe of Bristol City, who County MUST HAVE. There are some other good strikers around. Swansea's frenchman Sidibe, Blackpool John Murphy and Aston Villa's Richard Walker who impressed at Wycombe Wanderers and Blackpool have put a £100k bid in, who had him on loan last season.
P.S. Am I the only one who views this excellent site?

Message for Brendan Elwood-ha, ha, said the clown

Stockport County have just admitted to their loyal fans that they are prepared to follow Chester City into the Conference and possibly the Rymans League with the disastrous signing of Luke Beckett for £100,000 plus Glynn Hurst. Lets look at the facts County have spent well over a million pounds in the last two years on Byrne, Jaffo, Lawson, Carrigan, Hurst, Kugi and now Beckett. None of these players are prolific goalscorers that would set Division One alight. Would it not have been better to invest sensibly in two or three prolific goalscorers someone like Greenacre, who has apart from this season played in the same division as Beckett? Chris’s record in Division Three is 97 games 51 Goals over a goal every two games. Becketts record is 115games 41 goals a goal nearly every three games. On top of that we let Glynn Hurst go on a free transfer. We paid good money for him and should let him get back his goalscoring form by playing for the reserves or out on loan-he could still be an asset and is three times the player Beckett is, known as LB to Chester fans. Not Luke Beckett but Lazy Brat. Brendan Elwood is wasting precious money with small investments on no good players we give away on the cheap. Instead of paying out a decent sum for quality players that we can sell on and make a profit on, we purchase players that would struggle, two division lower than the one we play in, that is why we are in the position we are in. If you want a quality television to last. Go into Dixons and buy a Sony set to give you 20 years enjoyment-don’t buy a Matsui for two years viewing only. Brendan when are you going to see sense and play the transfer market like Sunderland, Leicester City, Middlesborough and Ipswich, all did to get promotion to the Premiership. They all buy players around the 3-500k mark like Birmingham City, players that excite the fans and swell the gates. It will be a long time before me and my sons and friends return to Edgeley Park. So Brendan you will continue to lose money and supporters, until you get wise. Bring in Greenacre, Cureton and Thorpe now and let Darlington have Beckett on a free transfer. It’s not to late to avoid relegation, but my crystal ball tells me that we will Win 12, Draw 11 and Lose 92 over the next two and a half seasons if you do not wake up and find some business sense.

The chairmans a plonker

Luke Beckett is not good enough to keep this club in Division One, let alone the Rymans league Division One. You are panic buying and wasting your valuable money. Tony Thorpe and Chris Greenacre have far better goalscoring records and have performed at a higher level. Brendan you have become a joke and every football club chairman will be laughing at you.

Wake up County Tony's available..

Bristol City have revealed that they have not received a single offer for 11-goal top scorer Tony Thorpe since he went on the transfer-list last month. And that may well indicate that the prolific striker will be able to leave for a cut down fee as he is available on a "Bosman" in the summer. Tony has scored 110 goals in 250 league games throughout his career and would form a terrific patnership with Greenacre and Kuqi. We missed out on Shaun Goater from the same club in the same way some years ago. Don't miss out this time County.
