10 things I hate about DVD

1. Macrovision - Is it too much to ask for the picture to not get distorted when passing through ANYTHING between the DVD and the TV? Your asinine copy-protection scheme does nothing to stop your phantom pirates; it only screws the average consumer.
2. Poor compression - Why can't you do this right on a 2 hour movie? And what is the deal with cramming 10 TV shows into 1 disc? Just spend the extra quarter already, cheapskates.
3. Cardboard cases - Wake up alrwady Weiner Brothers! Use the black clamshells like the rest of the decent distributors. You are the number 2 reason I buy more movies on VHS.
4. Macrovision - It screws legitimate users!
5. Retarded commercials - There was a time where every home viewing of a movie wasn't as annoying as a trip to the theatre. Yknow, I usually don't go see ANY of the movies included on a previews reel. Usually it's becuase they're complete ****, but occasionally it's out of principle.
6. Macrovision - Restricts my RIGHT to view movies I purchased how I want and when I want.
7. Lack of extras - For all the screaming and yelling about how great DVD was and how much it was capable of, we haven't seen much to really gloat about. No, interviews with studio execs aren't what we want. You're as boring as you are stupid.
8. Pricing - So, you ruin the visual quality with a noxious combination of bad MPEG and Macrovision, put many annoying commercials, split up the chapters wrong, pack it in a flimsy cardboard backing...and still want to charge $10+ more than VHS? Get a ****ing clue.
9. Macrovision - Sorry, this is getting repetitive. Unfortunately, I don't think they understand yet. Personally, I think the movie studios are run by a combination of retarded monkeys and lawyers.
10. Kid Rhino and Warner Bros - Way to ruin TransFormers and Batman:TAS. You should be proud. No, wait, I mean shot. Repeatedly.

Fights on Price

FIRST OPINION ON DVD PRICES

-----------------InTRo----------------
PHILOSOPHY ON CRUEL PRICES

It is obvious that DVD is some kind of better idea than CDs are. Globalism and cruel selfishness on companies supporting only their own financial growth slows down real welfare and progression of the new technologies.

Itz something like pulling the brakes because the capitalists and monopolists cannot think really GLOBALLY. The word "globalism" of course means the opposite of this.

See the example of LS120 A-Drive: couldn't spread because of the exaggerated high price. The company fell into its own trap!

The best way of getting money and welfare is to be a customer oriented company. I live in Hungary and we have VODAFONE here, it's getting the most money because of cheap prices! There are some useless consolidated strategies in most of todays world.

------------- DVD --------------

I would buy a DVD recorder but it's ****ing expensive! If the companies sold these for much cheaper price, they could make advantage of
bulk quantity sale, just because our world and human mind is dedicated to productivity and creation. Customer centric companies can make advantage of customer satisfaction, customers usually feel like paying if the services are satisfying, just how I feel.

OK! PPL! Please continue the subject, I want more opinions on DVD!

You don't have to write this much, this was just an intro.

Hoping the progress

Commercial Advertisements/Previews

I hate it when a DVD pre-emptively loads a commercial advertisement of any kind before it loads the feature menu. Take the Red Faction video game for PS2, for instance. Upon inserting the DVD, there is a 60-second-or-so ad for another game by the same developer that can not be bypassed.

Slightly annoying. I can deal with everything else.

PC "Friendly" DVD's

I understand the region protection on DVD's, but I don't hate it; in fact, I don't mind (since I have a RPC1 drive).

That PC"Friendly" thing on the other hand. I NEVER ever noticed any DVD friendlier to my PC than those. They auto-install themselfs, start programs without my permission, ... I HATE THOSE

This was a tough one, Price is the worst one though. I wouldn't bother about regions if R2 were as cheap as R1. PCFriendly sux ;) Macrovision doesn't bother me...
