How can we procreate as the Bible demands in Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 28 and abstain from Blood as in Acts 15 Verse 29? I don't get it, as semen carries blood in it. So creation should never have gone further than Adam and Eve, if one reads the Bible. Comment? New Testament: Acts 15 Verse 29 "That you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication; from which things keeping yourselves; you shall do well." Old Testament: Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 27: And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him:; male and female he created them." Verse 28: "And God blessed them saying; Increase and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and all living creatures that move upon the earth." This modern secular approach to truth stands in distinct contrast to the Christian Fundamentalist view, which holds that truth is not relative but absolute. The obvious inconsistencies in the Bible, so eloquently described by NFSM, demonstrate that the Fundamentalists have a major problem. It turns out that they are only willing to apply this criterion for truth when it suits their pre-conceived idea. They accuse others of being blind to the truth, yet it is they who choose to conveniently ignore such obvious inconsistencies as the differing order of creation. So the Fundamentalists turn out, in practice to believe in relative truth themselves--it is ok to believe that two contradictory assertions can be true if it is in the Bible!! As a Christian who reads the Bible each day and believes that God speaks to us through the words of scripture, I am sorry to see the scriptures misused in this way. |
