The art of reggae

War ina Babylon is now one of my 11 years old daughter's favorite songs (together with "Evening News", also with M.R. and "Spying Glasses" with Horace Andy).

I wish I could vote for the cover of the LP too. Many of the album covers from the 70ies represents a very serious and profound school of arts. The drawings and paintings are very beautiful and strong, and there is a lot of reflexion and planning behind the LP cover.

I heard that somewhere in the world a reggae art expo were arrenged, but I don't remember where. It should be fun to know which covers other people like most. My own favorites are "Catch A Fire" (original cigarette lighter LP cover), "Rasta Ambassador" (U Roy's black dove cover), "War ina Babylon", the three or four first LPs with Third World and "Equal Rights" with Peter Tosh.

I don't own a copy of the lighter original, and I should pay much for this very rare LP.

"War In A Babylon" is a standout LP any way you look at it. It's aged wonderfully---perhaps one of the decade's most crucial LPs.

Whatever

This is a classic album, hands down. It is well produced and has both a funky edge and a political statement. I would reccomend this to both old and new reggae fans alike.

not really

I got to say that "war in a babylon" is NOT the best track on the album and its not even close to deserve that ledgendary status it have tracks like "Norman" and "I chase the devil" is mutch mutch better
