| Posted By: Gary Posted On: Jan 20, 2002 Views: 812 | Your a Good Man John. Thank you for responding to my poll. I agree with you 100% Wyatt Earp is the better of the two movies.I can not figure why the majority would vote for Tombstone..?? Either they have not seen both or they along with myself dislike Kevin Costner. A movie with Kevin Costner that is good is an amazing accomplishmentin its own right. As much as I dislike Costner he did a damn fine job as Wyatt Earp. Russell was not very good as Wyatt. Val Kilmer was a good Doc Holliday though he (or the writers) went a bit overboard. Dennis Quaid was much much better. Of all the actors in any of the Wyatt Earp movies Quaid played his role the finest. The worst would be Ol' Vic Mature as Holliday in MY Darling Clementine. Anyway thanks to all who have responded to the most important question related to Wyatt & CO. |
| Posted By: John Hughes Posted On: Jan 20, 2002 Views: 817 | Tombstone? Wyatt Earp followed the history of the Earps better than any other movie. All the others show Wyatt as being a good guy all through life, when he was closer to being an outlaw most of the time.It is a fact that in Arkansas, he was arrested for robbery and horse theft. His family connections got him out of that as family gets the same kind of folks out of trouble these days.Ths Earps and Doc Holliday were a gang, and nothing more.Wyatt and Virgil were notorious for pistol whipping unarmed drunks and cowboys. He was considered a dangerous man because he had the sneakiness of a wolf.He wasn't a real fast man or accurate man with a gun.He was only involved in 2 or 3 real gunfights in his life, if you count the Tombstone debacle. That was closer to murder in many peoples opinions. And, he was never more than a deputy in his lawman stints. When he killed Frank Stillwell,he shot the man to pieces after the man was already dead. How's that for a hero? |
