Phew it was hard gaun last night

Must admit I struggled last night in the heat and so did some of the guys who played on Sat.

Thought Scott was the driving force behind the Mincers last night but he was ably backed up by wee Neilly...so for that I have gone for Neil for his terrior like qualities and for being a wee pain last night.

As for the sore toe incident. We did indeed play the last 20-25 mins with an injurd Stu in goals and I felt at least half of the goals scored in that period would have been saved by an 'fitter' player. In fact it got to the stage that you were passing the ball into the net.

The last time this incident came up, I was on the winning side that had the result downgraded to a draw. So for that and the fact that we seemed to have set a precident then possibly last night should be a draw as well.

However, I have another suggestion - we null and void the result because it would mean that by making it a draw, the benifactors of the result last night would be the guys that never played. That way the league positions and points remain as they are.....

Obviously the winners will not be too happy and blah blah blah ( I wasnt myself last time) but we're still fairly early into the season and by scrapping the scoreline would make things fairer in the long run.

However, at the end of the day, democracy rules and I'll accept whatever the outcome is

Toe bad!

Hard, hard work last night, and I thought the tatties got their heads down well and made a good fist of taking the game by the scruff of the neck (ooh, way to mix a metaphor!).

I thought Kyle, Gordo and Scott linked and moved extremely well, but I've voted for Craigo because he just seemed to get himself in so many scoring positions - and put most of them away too.

Brave Soldier of the night award goes to Stuart naturally, and while I did feel that we were in control of the game, it considerably more in our favour after he injured himself. So, maybe as Foxy says, the best idea is to void the match.

apologies for my having a glass toe

shame about the injury - it was shaping up into a quite enthralling (if a little lethargic) battle.

i don't think it's as bad an injury as the first time - it certainly hasn't bruised or swollen up in quite the same way. it did however render me almost useless in goals .

as for the result....void i think would be fair. although the tatties were a bit more cohesive the result was certainly in the balance before the injury.

my motm went to craigo.

MOTM

I voted for Scott as he linked up well with everyone.
I think the game should be null and void and Stuart should give us our money back.
if stuart is not prepared to do that then it stands.
However Democracy is for the weak. Its Iains ball, website, blog etc so he can take it home when ever he likes!
Remember vote Kyle for Prime minister!

Funny game last night. Before stuart's injury The Tatties were looking good for a win; being four up and looking hungry to maintain it. Then we lost a few goals whilst the mince had stuart back in the sticks. A good recovery pulled those goals back. Thought the tatties deserved the win on that front. MOTM for me goes to Kyle for pretty good distribution last night and covering the whole pitch well.

I am happy for the result to stand as a draw though. I re read the comments from before and we pretty much poofed out of making a decision on the scenario last time. Seems like it should be declared a draw, even though tiredness had little to do with the result, and my stats could do with a win and some positive goal difference!!!!

MOTM

Well it was a tough old battle out there, closely contested for most of the match. I've voted for Neilly because he seemed to get involved pretty much all over the park, never stopped trying and for that he gets my MOTM.

About this debate on whether the result should stand or otherwise. I think its a pile of nonsense to be fair. I don't care about whether I am on the winning or losing team and I'm not just saying this because I happened to be on the winning team last night (because I could just have easily been on the losing side - the result was close, only 4 goals in it).

The fact of the matter is, Stuart played on in goals and was effective in saving quite a few of our shots (especially of mine).

If last nights result had resulted in a win for the mince, would we be having this chat now? Or would the result stand? I'm pretty sure everyone would be happy and the result would stand.

There was an incident a few weeks back when I got injured just shortly after we kicked off (to the point of collapse at the end of the game). However, I played on and we lost. Back then, there was no question of whether the result should stand or otherwise, it wasn't debated, nor imo should it have been.

Reading other posts I realise I'm probably in the minority here and that this will have no bearing in the outcome but I thought I'd share my thoughts anyway.

Maybe in future, if we do decide that we are going to have a draw regardless of the outcome, we should declare it then and there - at the point of injury. Personally, I'd rather see the result stand which gives everyone the drive to continue playing competitive football, otherwise it'd break down into a lethargic mess of a game.

Remember, its only a gemme.

debate

A game i would rather forget. I'm not really bothered about calling a draw/win but i think its about 5 v 5 and if you or your teammate gets injured then its just bad luck. surely these things evens themselves out over the season?

For what its worth i played on till the end (badly, admittedly) trying to win and was unaware of the 'precedent'. I think once there is a decision on whether its a draw or win a new rule should be drawn up so everyone knows where they stand in future.

for motm i thought scott stood out and as usual scored some vital goals at vital times.

As an independent arbiter...

...I would say let the result stand - you have to decide *before* the game continues after an injury if you want it null and void.

And also,

it is only a gameshow (starts tonight)

Descisions, descisions

I personally think that, for the future, if someone gets injured in your team then them's the breaks and you get on with it. I thought that last time this happened but there was enough of an uproar to just call it a draw.

This time round, I agree that a draw only benefits the people that didn't play so that's out. So I think that this time we should just call it null and void as folk didn't fully know what was going on and it does match the precedent set last time. For what it's worth, as soon as it happened, I was thinking this would happen but I just kept quiet as if I'd said that the result wouldn't have stood then the game would have slowed down and not have been as much fun.

So that's my suggestion - this time it's null and void to avoid any upset but from this point forward if someone gets injured then man up and get on with the game. Results will stand.

Obviously there will be special cases. Take Donny's injury for example. He broke his ankle after only five minutes of play and had to go off so that's a special circumstance. Basically, if you can stay on the park then we play on as normal. If there's any doubt then it will be discussed and a decision will be made before play resumes.

What do you all think?

By the way, I voted Kyle because it balanced out the results to two each and this isn't going to count anyway :) He also played well.

Pfft!

What do you mean folk didn't really know what was going on? Everyone left the park last night knowing whether they won the game or not. There were 10 men on the park battling it out till the very end.

Only today when we came in was it ever questioned. Its ridiculous that we are even debating this. Has everyone become too PC these days to say what they really think?

And while I'm at it, we should remove the can't shoot from your own half rule. I think we've become a bit more technically advanced after our years of playing. Its like going ten pin bowling and insisting on the use of the inflatable gutter guard and ramp!

Man I sound angry, but I'm really not ;-)

let it stand - i don;' really care

I'm quite happy to let it stand - but everyone has to be happy with that.

It does make me laugh how people (not you specifically Gordo) change their opinions depending on what side they end up on. Last time it happened a lot of the folks here were adimant that it shouldn't stand because they were hard done by, but now that they are on the winning side it's all changed.

Visa versa too - when they won it should count but now they lost because of it, it shouldn't. I can't believe everyone cares so much about the stats! I knew you'd all come to love the spreadsheet!

MMMWWWAAAAAAHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHAAAAAAAAH!

Meaning?

Who do you mean Iain? I think most folks have said it should be null and void. Which leaves only me saying the match should stand.

For the record, I was on the winning side last time and said I didn't care what the outcome was but voted it to stand to keep the balance neutral. However, as it transpired the match didn't stand.

As far as I can see I'm the only one who is advocating the result should stand. So who is it you refer to when you mention people change their tunes?

Anyhoo, last word(s) on this from me. I think its already way out of hand. Look forward to more moaning next week.

Stu, hope your injury clears up soon big boy. Hee you back on the field of battle soon.

MotM

I voted for Scott - I can't really remember a stand out player, but I remember seeing Scott as a constant threat and spending a lot of time trying to mark him.
To be honest I don't think we were going to win, even before Stuart got injured. Strangely enough, it was at that point we started to concentrate, tried a bit harder and got back into the game briefly. It couldn't last though - we gradually tired and a few goals that Stuart wasn't able to save made things worse.
I don't know if I'm the only person who had the (mis?)fortune to be on Stuart's team on both occasions. The last time, my immediate thought was that the game should be nul and void. This time, probably because Stuart's injury was a bit later, because I didn't feel we were as much in the game, and because he didn't go off before the end of the game, I wasn't so sure.

My worry would be that if we do decide that any injury can lead to a game being nul and void, then it leaves people in a difficult situation. If you get a injury it is sometimes a difficult decision to play on and possibly make it worse, or go off and spoil the game for the rest of the players. This would add a new dimension - if you are losing you could be accused of trying to get the game struck off, if you are winning you could end up doing your team out of a win.

MOTM - sorted

Now that it's been decided that the result should stand, I've sorted out the MOTM votes as there were a few extra.

I had initially voted for kyle but that was just to even out the poll and make it look nice but now that it counts, my real vote is for Neil.

Scott and Neil share the honours.
