Poor Leadership

Jamaica was taken into independence by a selfish duo who were only seeking their own foothold on power using poor, hapless, people.

Since the seventies the rich elitists have been slowly removing the mat of wealth from under the country, while blaming the economic problems of the society on various factors.

Add to the mix, politicians who allow ruthless gangs to be affiliated to their political organizations, squandering what little resources the country had.

Countries as Barbados, and the Bahamian Islands, made it because their leaders were genuinely concerned for the people they served. The elite of these countries supported sensible economics by responsible handling of their own interests, and guiding development with their own contributions to planning and investment.

Better off as a colony

If you look countries like Bermuda, Grand Cayman, and British Virging Islands, it should be obvious that we would have been better if we had remained a colony of Britain. We have nothing to show for (so called) independence. We were not truly ready for independence in 1962, and we are even less ready for it now.
