Posted By: Whatever Posted On: Nov 5, 2009 Views: 1680 | Why bother... What's the point of keeping this poll discussion open if it is being misused by people who use it for free advertisement? Isn't the Daily Gleaner losing money it could have gained through these freeloaders paying for advertisements for their products??? |
Posted By: Paidin Posted On: Nov 1, 2009 Views: 2125 | Guns for drugs trade It is said that the Hellshire beach area is a major destination in the guns-for-drugs trade, and in previous reports, that Haitians have been illegally landing on this beach in support of this trade. Obviously, control is lacking at this point, and it renders all those security checks at the other ports of entry null. It seems that the government would be better-off closing down this beach area, and properly securing it, so as to put a major dent in the guns-for-drugs trade. At least until they can put in security features, such as; a marine police/coast guard outpost, and possibly build proper booths to rent to the fishermen, etc. doing business there. Of course, knowing the relationship with suspected criminals, one expects the government to do what they do best...nothing, and for crime to continue unabated, while the sovereignty of the government is gradually ceded to gangs. In the mean time, the government high officials continue as if they lived elsewhere other than Jamaica, not being subject to crime and violence as the average Jamaican. Who knows, maybe the proposed upgrading of the Boscobel Aerodrome to the status of international airport, is to facilitate its use as an emergency evacuation route, in the inevitable event that the government is reduced to zero sovereignty, and all hell breaks loose. After all the Palisadoes airport can easily be cut-off on that narrow strip of land, and MoBay airport is too far, and maybe overcrowded in the event of a crisis. |
