I also think it's pretty crappy to be hearing someone continually pointing out how intolerant other posters are and pretending to have some sort of pyschological insight. If Brad wrote a storyline having Brooke and her sisters taken to some Islamic country and put behind burkahs and treated as awfully as women are treated I have a hard time believing I would see the same sort of slamming of THAT culture as I'm seeing for those who just don't happen to want to see a cultural lifestyle that offends them brought to a soap they've supported. Want to talk about intolerance? There is a darn good case here for the bigotry against Christians and those who try to pretend that they are protecting the rights of gays,right when the country has our first amendment being thrown out by legislation that forces BRAD'S religion to pay for contraception, is either dumb dumb dumb or hypocritical. This soap was initially written by practicing Catholics. THere is no reason to suppose that quite a few Catholics were not original fans. Given that, and given that we never heard Bell Sr. knock his religion there is a HUGE reason to feel betrayed about a gay storyline. Just because others besides Catholics got on board doesn't mean that Catholic AND Christian viewers, there from the start, shouldn't feel free to have THEIR views represented. Nickygirl, if you don't think that those who disagree with you have a right to say so without you calling them the nastiest stuff, I'd say you have some soul searchin' to do. I can have like everybody and not want their lifestyle shoved in my face on a soap I used to watch for escape to man/woman romance. Message boards used to be a fun way to talk to different fans and now all we have are people saying nasty things to others, pretending that someone ELSE is trying to impose oppression. From where I see you just want everyone who doesn't agree with you to have no voice. Newsflash, we're an audience with different views. the audience that paid for this soap. Aging and screen hog soft porn stars and cheaper less talented young actors do not a great soap make. Brad, quit already and just go write some soft porn films. you have the dollars, thanks to us. |
