| Posted By: Lorna Posted On: Feb 12 Views: 267 | Im 14 Hi, im 14 years old and i have just found out i have scoliosis. I have a 26 degree curve in my top back and 19 degrees in my bottom back. Ive been to the hospital and ive been told to go back in 4 months time. The thing that has confused me when i went to the hospital was that he told me that Scoliosis isnt a painful condition, but then i get real bad pain! Does anyone else get really bad pain? I'd really like to be able to talk to somebody in the same situation i am! Thanks for reading :) |
| Posted By: Rita Posted On: Aug 16, 2007 Views: 634 | Scoliosis I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 12 and had surgery at 13 with two herrington rods. I have to say this was one of the most difficult times in my life but at 48 I see the blessings that have come from this time. Wearing a body cast throughout your Sophmore year in high school taught me that there was nothing I could not do in the future. I have never looked at my condition as a handicap and have worked most of my life. I have two grown children and a 2 year old grandchild. Yes, I have complications and do have pain every day from my spinal fusion, but you learn to tolerate a certain level of pain daily. I have never had the perfect body that I desired, but who does. I thank God for the opportunity to share my experience throughout my life to help those young people facing the diagnosis of scoliosis and allowing them to see that there is life after surgery. |
