| Posted By: Mike Posted On: Aug 7, 2007 Views: 806 | Greyhound I heard one track on a compilation CD that I loved. The track "I've been trying" should have been a classic. Im not sure if it is a remake, but these guys really shine on it. But yes, as the reviewer notes, in my search for more of this groups music, I was sad to uncover a bunch of songs you might hear in a 5 star Jamaican resort for 50 somethings. Good review. Shows what can happen to real talent when it sells out. |
| Posted By: catfish Posted On: Mar 3, 2006 Views: 948 | Worth a Listen This seems to be the same album as the 1975 U.K. release "Mango Rock" ("Leave the Reggae To Us", Mercury #SRM-1-1054) with the addition of the 1972 recording of "Black & White". Despite the covers mentioned in the main review, it is actually a respectable album. A good blend of reggae and "stax"-type soul rythyms...with nice vocals. Not the best of 70's reggae, but good in its own respect and worth a listen with open ears and mind...comparible to Toots "Funky Kingston" era. |
