African Name?

The idea of changing one's name is interesting but in my way of thinking asking the right question will bring the right answer. First, what do you know about Africa? From what I've been able to find in my limited investigation is that Africa is pretty much the source of all humanity including culture and religion as well as science and technology making it very difficult to totally separate whatever name we may already have from Africa. I'm not copping out here. I mean what I say, Every culture on this planet owes most of what they are to Africa. I know this and that won't change if I call myself Jomo Lumumba Mandela Kenyatta or George Adolphe Bush Washington.

Fokpa

I thought about changing my name when I was younger but never did, and now it seems it would be too difficult, socially speaking.

My wife likes our current last name. I mentioned to my son about joining me in changing our name to "Fokpa," a Liberia secret society name, but I don't think he really saw the need to change either.

I think it is more of a family thing that precludes many Africans in America from changing their names.
