| Posted By: HarryStine Posted On: May 28, 2006 Views: 969 | Brain Death and Motives for Death You can't really measure "brain death". In the 50's the only brain waves measurable were alpha waves. Today we have three more different frequencies we can measure. That doesn't mean we have all the frequencies, however. I believe there have been quite a few cases of people going into trances so deep that a physician would be able to pronounce them "brain dead", and then returning. They had some level of consciousness just not of the physical world. If one were to kill them they would loose all consciousness, including whatever bliss they may have been experiencing. Therefore, we have no idea how much of life Michael Schivo stole from his wife for money. What we do know, however, is that he could not provide any proof about what she wanted to happen to her when she entered a coma, thus he had no business pushing to make sure that "brain dead" blob of flesh wasn't given any sustenance. He had no personal reason to care (except for that money promised to him). He could have transferred the responsibility to one of the "fanatics" rallying outside the hospital and forgotten about it. There were no legal documents to prove what that "apathetic corpse" wanted, so we shouldn't assume on the decision that Michael would use to profit from our tax dollars. |
