Trees by Joyce Kilmer

Having a name shared with this great poet, it kept popping up whenever I went searching on the web. Finally, I decided to re-read this lovely poem, Trees, by Joyce Kilmer. I was brought top tears, unexpectedly, & decided to share it via e-mail, with credit to Wikipedia, of course. Thank you for prolonging the "shelflife" of both the poem & poet. The world would be a better place if minds thought poetically, I feel. And we also need to be able to give our thanks to God for creating the trees we see & use & enjoy.

TREES

by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)

THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
