There's no acting, he's amused and bemused and out of all options but the poetic lament, an honorable task when all else has failed. No blame. If he was my neighbor instead of the Dolt family letting their pit bull go slowly nuts on the other side of my fence, our dogs would be friends and I'd make a gate and leave it open between the two yards so the dogs could visit back and forth as they pleased. That's all they want, to sniff each other for breakfast news and sit panting together under a tree. |
