| Posted By: Jon Posted On: Jan 9, 2009 Views: 987 | Ray Of Light outtakes + Skin This is probably my favorite Madonna album, and would be better yet in my book if it were reissued as a two-disc one with the rejected songs of Gone Gone Gone, Revenge, Like A Flower, No Substitute For Love and Has To Be on the second CD. Didn't know until fairly recently that there had once been talk of Skin being the sixth single, and think it's regrettable that it never happened considering how untypical it was (and remains) for a Madonna song (hence there's a chance that a lot of non-fans might have liked it and bought it). Has too much time elapsed for a belated single release of Skin to be worthwhile now I wonder, or is it possible that its still comparatively fresh-sounding nature would cause it to reach high positions in many of the world's music charts even these days? Most probably we'll never know, but releasing as singles songs from albums of long ago may sometimes be sensible if the song in question has continued to be popular and/or is one that's aged well (as Skin has I'd say - sounds somewhat futuristic to me in fact). |
