So if you've ever given oral and someone you're going to have sex with asks if you're a virgin, you should say yes. Receiving oral won't get you an STD though. Unless it's something like herpes which can affect the mouth, in which case you'll probably know you have it pretty quickly. |

I let this kind of shifty friend of mine convince me to start a business with him, like a real-live actual business with paperwork and crap filed with the government. Well, as soon as the business started to tank, my friend got bored and sort of disappeared, leaving me to take care of the customers and all the billing and crap, and it's been a nightmare ever since. Seriously, if you ever want to start a business, either start it on your own or with someone who knows what the heck he's talking about. Don't start businesses with bullsh*tting dilletantes or you'll be sorry. Other than taking up smoking, starting that business was the absolutely stupidest thing I've ever done. The pile of crap that I carved out for myself by doing that haunts day and night. I often dream of how great my life would be if I didn't have that stupid-ass business to run. I'd close the business, the obvious choice, but since I've got customers who would be left completely helpless if I did, I don't have the heart to just pull the plug. Other really stupid things I've done: Didn't take people seriously when I was a teenager when they told me that my horrible attitude toward school was going to screw up my adult life. It did. They were right, all of them. Started hanging around with people who hang around in bars and get high for fun. Drugs are a slow train ride to absolutely nowhere. Go ahead and laugh at the guy in the suit who's busting his hump for the man, at least that guy has a life. I let an employer sort of lay me off from regular payroll and start paying me "as a consultant," meaning that I don't get withholding or SSI taken out. Don't EVER let an employer do that to you... you get screwed at tax time, and I mean screwed really hard... I mean you will be handing four months of your pay over to the IRS, if not more. Let's see, other stupid things I've done... um... I've gone on vacations without a clear idea of what I was going to do when I got there, and without a detailed city map to guide me around, and therefore spent about half my time trying to figure out where the hell I was going. I maxed out a bunch of credit cards years ago and couldn't pay them back. That was really dumb. I also moved in with a guy that I knew had a bad habit of skipping out on bills and generally being a horrible roommate, and now I still owe the electric company and the gas company like five hundred bucks each, since he never kicked in any money to pay those utilities. That was really dumb of me. Because of those two dumb things my credit rating is in the sewer and I can't buy a new car or a house or get a real credit card. The funny thing is, I'm technically really smart. I've got an IQ of 132, which is just a few points shy of "genius," and yet I do one really stupid thing after another. I mean really, really horrendously stupid things. It's as if I'm just smart enough to get myself into some real trouble, without being smart enough to see how much trouble I'm getting myself into. Like Wile E. Coyote or something. I'll gleefully strap those rocket-skates onto my feet, and then propel myself straight off the side of a mountain. |

That's funny - I had a couple of friends that were trying to start a business and I helped them out a little bit but I didn't give them any money because I knew their idea would turn to shit.... and it did, of course. New businesses have a 90% rate of failure in the first year - something like that. Stupid Guy, I think your problem is that you're way too nice. If feeling bad about dropping those customers was the only thing holding me back, I would do it in a second, especially with all the other problems you've got. Stop trusting people is all I can say. No one can be trusted unless you hold something that they value. |
