Combination too

I do all that is listed. I find a mix and match approach is great, and have found that seeking counselling and helping others helps a lot.

I always feel recovered until the date of the event and then i am in the aftermath all over again. I know this does not happen to everyone, but to those that it does happen to my prayers are with you.

What Helps

For me it was a combination also. One thing you must be able to do is "talk about it". Satan works in darkness & shadows, therefore what we keep hidden in the dark allows him to have bondage over us.

2nd - pray about it. Don't ever get caught in the trap of it being God's fault. Satan hates everything good and lovely and God created us all that way. Therefore, he has to do everything he can to kill that loveliness inorder to prevent us from reaching the potential we were created for.

Not only am I healed from DAte Rape on my very first date, I am now starting a Rape Ministry to help other women in my church and town.

Realize it is an ACT that was DONE to you - it does not determine WHO you are!

Dealing with the aftermath: What helps?

I think for me simply being accepted as a sexual assault Survivor is what has helped the most. I was not "abused", I was not "molested" I was sexually assaulted and still carry the scars today both physically and mentally. Meeting people, online or otherwise, who do not lessen what happened by use of insignificant terms or segragate me because of my gender is by far, the most powerful help I have received.

Knowing that talking to other people and giving them advice or just letting them know you understand and they're not alone helps me. It's a way to find something positive with this.

What works

What is very helpful to me is seeing a therapist. Also posting and knowing that other people believe me. That is very important to me. I have been in therapy for 4 yrs now and here about as long. Both has made an amazing diffrence in my recovery.

I think it takes a combination of things to overcome being raped and successfully heal. For me it was writing, talking with a close friend about it then others, seeing a counselor, just to name a few. I don't think one thing will help a person heal, but a variety of resources. No matter what works for each individual, healing does happen. I am proof of it.
