Yes, we need oil, but that comes from a reluctance on people to try new things, and a quieting down of them by the ones who'd be affected by loosing money. It would hurt the economy of these other nations and ours if we stop using gas for our cars, but you have to look at what it's doing to us. Of course people want their cars, were America. I think it would be great if we could develop a system of government like the one you'd described. The biggest obstacles are power and money. Those of us that have none (essentially, the masses) would really benefit from that type of system. However, those in positions of power won't give up without one hell of a fight. There are so many middle-men that may not hold a top title, but still have a ton of behind-the-scenes influence in this world. I'm one of those idealistic folks who believes that we coud hit the "reset" button and have a fair system. I would totally vote for your fair global rule scenario. But realistically, it's almost impossible that it would happen w/o a huge war - or a lot of assassinations. There are a lot of nice people in this world, but there are a lot of folks who will step on anyone to move up the ladder. How would you account for those type of people and stop them from corrupting or taking over the social system? Since some countries currently make/create/sustain more wealth building opportunities, does this mean that all the money from every country would go into one big global bank account? If so, it would take time to adjust both the wealther and poorer counties to an even adjustment per-capita... until the system really gets rolling and everyone become more self-sustaining. Also, with the amount of fanaticism (Christian, Muslim, and many others) do you think that they would agree to accept the differences in religion, all under one rule? OK, lots of questions. No great sugegstions. (sorry) Your turn! |

Like you, I belive that something like WWIII would take place. In which case I see two outcomes, we **** up everything so badly the human race will become extinct(our current path), or people cast aside the pointless idea that whoever dies with the most stuff wins and help one another. Technology will get to a point where it helps people in way were little money is needed (not to get scifi, but think of how commonplace transporters and replicators would change things) the ones wanting money will suppress that new technology. One thing that may help is that everybody's vote will count the same. Currently the voting system in the US is based on which state has the most people, so say someone voting here in WV may have half the clout as someone in a state with twice as many people, it's like counting the vote for that larger state twice. To serve the people you would have to give up or put on hold all your assets. You'd get no pay, and if you are found to accept any money from anyone while in office you are made to leave. There would be a head of the senate, just to tell who is able to speak next, etc. no real power. Your right about the wealthier and poorer counties being made equal, and even if some type of plan makes it this far it will take a generation or two for everything to fall into place. The biggest hurtle will be religion. When people learn that we are all different and nobody has a right to damage someone else because they belive differently things will start moving. Government and Religion will have to be kept separate. |
