Tofu rules! It can taste like basically anything and no animals have to live a pain-filled life and then die before appearing on someone's plate.

"no animals have to live a pain-filled life and then die before appearing on someone's plate"

Then what is the point? If tofu can be made to taste like anything, why is it that it always tastes like ****?

RE: tofu

By the way, Lulu, more animals die to create a vegetarian lifestyle than a meat eating lifestyle. That farm plow growing your precious greens is killing off about 50% of the rodent population living there. I don't mean a peaceful dying in your sleep death, I mean having a steel blade rip through your house and pull your guts out death. Ah, but they aren't a cute little cow though, so who cares, right? It's easy to pretend to be superior when you have blinders on.

RE: RE: tofu

I have tried to eat tofu and it just doesn't ever turn out very good...I prefer to eat my soybeans in their natural form of edamame.

Do you think it hurts the little soybeans feelings when I boil them and then pour salt on their little soybean wounds?

(the real me, btw)

RE: tofu

"but less cows die. . ."

That is what makes vegetarians so hypocritical. It isn't that they love all living things so much that they can't bear to think of any of them dying for their meal. It is that they don't like the idea of eating a fuzzy cow or happy little chicken. They don't give a rat's ass about the rodents and bugs and anything they can't see getting ground up in the combine as long as it is sorted out before it hits their table. If you don't want to eat fuzzy cows that is fine but lose the holier than thou attitude and accept the fact that nothing on this planet can live without something else dying. There is nothing wrong with the rest of us eating giant slabs of meat stacked 3 feet high on our plates. Stop acting like you are better or more enlightened than us.

RE: tofu

bottom line they are just dumb... usually young females with pets who have been brainwashed by some peta-like organization in high school who create some sick parallel between their emotions towards their puppy and their emotions toward livestock.

RE: tofu

I don't want to find any fuzz on my cow when I eat it...let the fuzzy part be a nice chair for some Bubba in Texas...

Remember the song, Killer Tofu? Was that the Simpsons?

RE: tofu

if the entire country were vegetarians, wed all be skinny and pale. we'd sleep like 15 hours a day....vitamins can only last so long
then we'd be hitting cows and deer with our cars cos they would be everywhere

i grew up around hunting, there's some kind of weird satisfaction when you blow the heart out of a deer and then gut it and leave the guts out in the woods for the other animals

then of course you take its eyes, tear ducts, and penis and put them in a jar of fermeldahyde for your collection

I think hunters are generally redneck assholes by character but I certainly don't mind a cow having it's skull crushed in for my steak as long as someone else does it

RE: tofu

More animals do *not* die for vegetarian food to be created, because for livestock to be fed even more plants have to be harvested than have to be harvested for a plant-based diet. Of course some animals will die regardless of the lifestyle you choose, but the goal of the vegetarian is not realistically to eliminate animal suffering, but to minimize it.

There really is something wrong with eating animals: it causes unnecessary suffering. But no one can be perfect, and probably most vegetarians are doing some harmful and unethical things along other lines without meaning to or wanting to, just like everyone else. But that doesn't mean that abstaining from meat isn't one of many steps in the right direction that can be taken for the many issues out there.

RE: RE: tofu

More animals *do* die for vegetarian food. The plant need for cattle has been calculated. If the vegetarian's true goal was to keep animal suffering to a minimum then they should be eating meat since for each cow suffering there are thousands of other animals dying for their tofu.

There really is nothing wrong with eating meat. Humans are designed for it. We have the pointy teeth and the inability to convert plant proteins. Vegans have to jump through hoops to get the proper protein levels. The rest of us just eat a hamburger.

You don't want to eat meat, don't eat meat. Then shut the f*ck up about it. You are not morally superior to anyone. Take a look at nature. It is not Walt Disney. There are things that kill other things in a way that would make the most hardened killer shiver. Just because you want to pretend you live in a safe little world where all animals (including humans) frolic together in harmony and then sit down to wonderful tofu dinners doesn't mean the rest of us want to or have to.

I am sure you are causing unnecessary suffering to all the people around you when you start your preaching of the sins of a meat eater. Does that mean we should start a cult group against you? I personally hate broccoli. I hate the taste, I hate the look, and I hate the smell. Does that mean I can create a fanatical group of broccoli haters and perform terrorist acts against anyone not agreeing with me?

There is so much more that can be said about your holier than thou attitude and your head in the sand lifestyle but Maddox covers it better - http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=grill

RE: tofu

If there's something really wrong with eating animals, I wish someone would inform all the other animals that they need to become vegetarians. The nerve of some lions eating antelopes. There's something really wrong with that.
