Posted By: Dumas Posted On: Jan 22, 2007 Views: 2169 | Wynn on The Strip AGAIN! Speaking of the devil... did you see that Wynn is on the show again this week? Unbelievable. Can't wait to hear about the Picasso. Wish I could make it in the chat room! |
Posted By: AndyMN Posted On: Jan 22, 2007 Views: 2147 | reply I voted for Follies and Danny Gans. Not that Follies isn't a good show, it's just that it probably wont stay open during the remodel (if and when it happens). As for Danny Gans, I just don't like his show and I think Gordie Brown is much better. Gans' show is also outdated in my opinion. To me, Spamalot will do ok. Avenue Q and Hairspray didn't have spectacle. Spamalot is deffinitely not a Cirque or Dragone show but to me it does have some spectacle. Technically, KA should be on this list (even though they would never close it). The only reason its occupancy rates are high is because the majority of its tickets are comped. |
Posted By: Tony in LA Posted On: Jan 21, 2007 Views: 2095 | Wynn sucks Hey Andy... then who'd you vote for, Producers and Follies? I actually think that Wynn will prop up Spamalot, too, and when it fails he'll blame Broadway rather than his own lousy choices. The last great show Wynn chose was O and that was 9 YEARS AGO and a no-brainer. There is some legend about Wynn not even liking Mystere when he first saw it. |
Posted By: AndyMN Posted On: Jan 21, 2007 Views: 1627 | My 2-cents on the matter Here is my opinion on some of the shows that I am familiar with. These opinions are based on my personal experiences with these shows and some facts and rumors. -Lance Burton probably will not be closing anytime soon. He just put a lot of his own money into adding to his show. It will be around atleast until the Chris Angel show opens at Luxor. And Cirque or MGM haven't said anything about a new show at Monte Carlo. -Le Reve will be around for at least a year longer. Its ticket sales have progressively gotten better from what I hear. It will be dark during the month of March for the Spamalot opening and will recieve some changes during that time. -The Follies will probably be announced within the year. They will probably be closed during the remodel at Tropicana. The towers and the showroom are the only things that will remain from the original Trop. Whether they reopen or not, I have no idea. -I personally don't think Spamalot will close, even if it is doing bad. Steve just seems like he will MAKE IT WORK somehow. They already fixed their mistake of charging too much. Ticket prices range from $49 to $99, which isn't bad. He deffinitely will not let both of his shows fail and close. -If The Producers does make it, it will be because of the Hoff. I'm not really sure if he alone will be able to carry the show. Without the Hoff the show is as good as gone. |
Posted By: Russ in VA Posted On: Jan 18, 2007 Views: 1654 | Danny Gans and Jubilee I saw Danny Dans last April ('06) and he was still doing Michael Jackson jokes. 'nuff said. I saw Jubilee last August. You think any of the performers admit to family that they're in this show? |
