RE: Trucker Jimmie

i worked as a paleontologist assistant in montana at egg mountain, jack horner's baby. you probably know of him, due to his achievements in the paleo world (being the scientific advisor on jurassic park didn't hurt, either...but it did frustrate him a bit, i believe, since spielberg was hesitant to bend on a lot of stuff).

i was the youngest member of the NY paleontological society at 13. i don't get to attend meetings or go on digs as much as i'd like to anymore, though. i strayed from the paleo field in college to pursue theater, writing and improv (a real turnaround). most of the fossils i have i dug myself...with a few exceptions. i also have a t-rex skull cast that was a gift from an SVP auction years ago.

ferns, eh? ever lucky enough to find insect or other invertebrate imprints? always a pleasant surprise.

lol sorry i could go on for ages about this stuff, one of my passions.

ahh, you're thinking of Las Vegas wr. Denver is to the east of the foothills/mountains. In my 14 years of living here there has NEVER been a smog alert or anything close to that. You might be thinking of those certain days where we're not allowed to use our fireplaces.

your comment about nemo and australia cracked me the fyuck up..

No, I was thinking of Denver. That is why I said Denver. I was there, in Aurora actually and I heard the smog warning myself on the radio. I asked a guy that lived there about it because it seemed strange and he told me about the bowl catching the bad air thing. Sorry I didn't get his contact info. I didn't think it would be needed.

Aussie, I was just giving you ****. There is nothing wrong with Australia except maybe the Funnel Web Spider, Box Jellyfish, and Brown Snake. You guys hate Americans as a rule though so I won't be visiting.

RE: Trucker Jimmie

ahhh, Aurora....that place is pretty ****ty. There are few nice places in Aurora, you should have gone further west or south. But still, as far as some smog warning goes I've never heard of one happening here. I could definately imagine one happening in some place like commerce city, that has GOT to be without a doubt the worst place in all of Colorado. I had some guy work on my car (he did my transmission and heater core) and he lived in Commerce city, the entire place is industrialized, grey, and depressing. Yuck, just thinking about that place makes me want to puke.

Australia is ****ed up with its funnel web spiders, those things are the nastiest little ****ing....ahhh, they can bit through your boot, they're the second most venomous spider and the first most vicious....what a great combination.

peace and love

I was in Aurora listening to a radio station out of Denver give warnings for Denver.

RE: Trucker Jimmie

unfortunately whenever someone says denver they mean Denver and the entire surrounding area, which is: Lakewood (where I'm at, it's to the west in the foothills), Aurora, Parker, Wheatridge, Thornton, Broomfield, Commerce City (probably the biggest factor to pollution), Greenwood Village....Denver has about a 100 mile radius that speaks for the rest of the towns in a way. Really, the only places that would be spoken of seperately would be: Fort Collins, Boulder, Colorado Springs (and it's outlying cities), and The mountains with all of their little towns.

So this "smog warning" that you heard of would have most likely been for either Commerce City, or Aurora. Denver in itself (the actual denver) would not have such a warning. Sorry to burst your bubble wr, but that bowl effect that you speak of isn't towards the west where I am, or in the actual downtown area itself. I've lived here for 14 years and I've never heard a smog warning, perhaps you should turn on the news instead of the radio....

peace and love

RE: Trucker Jimmie

Well, it wasn't part of the song lyrics. It was a news report between songs. They do have those on radios you know. It would be very irresponsible to be driving around and watching news on the TV at the same time. That is just crazy talk and you shouldn't be driving advocating that.

RE: Trucker Jimmie

I know you were just being funny wr - its all good.

Luckily for me, I think Funnel Web Spiders are only really in and around Sydney (I'm in Melbourne- 900 km's away) - I'd leave if I had to deal with them!

I also don't think Box Jellyfish are near Melbourne either. They seem to like the warmer weather (don't we all), so for that reason they hang out up north. And yep, I'd leave if I had to put up with them too!!

I think in Australia we get a somewhat tained view of Anmerica - since we're shown what the media want us to see. Eg, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole, Madonna, Desperate Housewives, So you think you can dance and terrible 'rip off' versions of shows such as "The Office" (sorry but the English one was much better!).

And for the record, I don't hate americans :)
