RE: republican

Wrong. They are all assholes. Democrats are equally as bad. One these idiots lives in a 28,000 Sq Ft house and has the nerve to say Americans need to sacrifice. Another one just asked for $64,000 so he can have his portrait painted. All politicians and their blind followers should be rounded up and put into internment camps.

RE: republican

I'm definitely not voting unless one of the candidates does something very radical that changes my mind about him or her. Until then, I can't see any of them as being president. At least not right now.

The Democratic Party is not liberal, interestingly. They're just less conservative than Republicans.

We need some real socialists here in America.

In socialism, society has two cows. The government of the people distributes the milk fairly among the members of the society it works for.

In capitalism, society has two cows. The government sits back while a few shrewd people use underhanded tactics to hold society's cows hostage and exploit them for their personal enjoyment.

RE: republican

lol AdOS! Something about the way you worded that involving cows...wow hahaha.

I've heard of Ron Paul through a few politically charged sites that I stumbled across, he definitely sounds like he's going back to the parties roots which shows a little character. Unfortunately though he's also being pushed out of the race by other Republican candidates so I don't really think that he'll be in for the running. I still probably wouldn't vote for him but it is nice to see someone with a genuine goal in mind.

RE: republican

No we don't need any socialists. In socialism the guy with two cows does all the work and the guy with no cows gets free milk. All that does is kill incentive for people to excel and everything becomes stagnant. Take a look at what happened in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to see how the socialist ideals never work in the real world.

What we need is government to shrink until it is only doing absolutely essential government work. They have a proven track record of screwing up and inflating costs of everything they touch. Better to keep them out of handling as mush as possible. Of course that is just as much of a fantasy as socialism.

RE: republican

It's a little too early to have one's mind set on a specific candidate. Things can change pretty quick, as can the general publics opinions on some issues. When all of the generals are talking about the war America is currently in, rather they make valid points or not will make a big difference. Obviously, if the war looks as dumb as it does now months from now, many will want to vote for someone who will end the war quickly. The same can be said for many other issues, that's just an example.

RE: republican

Actually, the best cow analogy would probably be in capitalism there are two cows, and the milk goes through large companies before they are distributed to the people. In socialism there are two cows, and the milk goes through the government before being distributed to the people. The only difference is in socialism the government also controls the army, and thus have an easier time distributing the milk unfairly, whereas in capitalism the businesses need to control the government first in order to do so (still fairly easy, but it's an important extra step).

And weeze, although I don't think socialism works, I don't really buy the whole "incentive" argument. The problem was more in the inefficiency and corruption in the government that required those willing to do work to do menial tasks instead, so the country could stay afloat. Many people are not content with a life where they get only enough food to live, and strive for more. Getting a job where you can control the flow of milk is how you get it, which is why in any society, a person's ambitions will make them strive for more.
