Of course what I said earlier applies to lots of guys, it was just personal experience talking and I should have caught it. It's just I've been with more senioritas who throw out that line. I am quite the ladies' man in case you hadn't noticed so I rarely get into the deep get-to-know-you convos with dudes unless I'm after some action from them. Which is only when I'm really lonely. Which has only happened like four and one half times ever. |

But I honestly believe that if you don't have something nice to say then don't say it at all. Anywho, that was a broad 'question' at that- meant to spark curiosity in it's widest form. It all depends on what you think it means? Is the bible fake- is it full of fake literature? Is it acutally a fake of the real thing? Are the words actualy written by the hand of God? I for one believe the bible to be more of a set of stories with morals, and I for one don't take any of it literally. As an agnostic, I take pleasure in believing that there's a higher power- and just leave it at that. I don't think that higher power has to be worshiped or idoled or made sacrafices to in any way. I try and look at religion as a sort of suedo answer to what we cant explain. People take comfort in having a little bit of what they strongly believe to be knowledege(religion). I think that what ever makes people feel more spiritually complete, go for it. Just be reverent to other people and their beliefs and the world should get along just fine. |

I haven't figured out proper e-tone yet - I always sound kinda angry in my posts. Also, I do have a tendency to argue a lot in real life, but when you can see me, you can tell it's all in good fun. Not so much on the boards. For the record, I think the Bible is exactly what it purports to be - a series of texts written by individuals trying to help each other figure out how to be happy and answering that question through their exploration of a relationship with the supreme power of the universe. It's actually kind of a beautiful thing, when you think about it. |

The Bible is a man-made construction of texts; its contents have changed over the centuries based on the decisions of institutions like the Church that have evolved over time. I grant you that St. Paul seems to have been all about laying down the laws, but that's Paul's thing. Paul espouses many things I find unacceptable. Incidentally, in the Catholic Church, from which most protestant religions derive their Bible, the writings of Church fathers (Augustine, Aquinas) are considered to be in conversation with the the texts of the Bible and what the Church fathers have to say is equally important (the rules are a little different regarding the Gospels). So in fact, for many people, the Bible is a philosophical text which is part of an ongoing quest. Fundamentalists disagree, but that's OK with me - I'm not, nor do I want to be, a fundamentalist. And given the way Jesus spoke in parables, I'd say he wasn't one either - he understood the power of metaphor and imagery. |

Of course that was way back in the day. And then the Christians killed hundreds of thousands of Muslims "in the name of God" for the right to the holy land. God given right seems to be a little far fetched to me... |

Choose wisely, because there will always be someone who says that you are wrong. There will always be someone who will kick sand in your face when you are down, but what Christianity talks about most is Hope and Love. Don't be afraid of change, especially if that change is to help better yourself. Change is a part of life - right? - of course it is. So take a look at yourself and see whether or not you want to change your habits, they don't have to be drastic. They just have to be enough for you to realize that most of the poison in this world arrives from Lawlessness; it's because of Freedom that our minds become corrupt, fractured, and lost. Do not see the Law of the LORD as a way of constricting your life, but as a way of it freeing you from the tyranny of sin. Quiet your Mind, Heart, and Soul and then at once, as if by miracle, you shall hear Him speak to through ways you've never noticed. Approach Him with no pride, but as a humble servant willing to do what He asks of you. Approach Him in the manner of Him sitting on a throne, as a King. Do not let the desires of you Mind nor Heart distract you from the desires of your Father. ... and only then do you have to decision to make - Live for Him and In Him; as He has asked you to or face the consequences of choosing to turn your back and disappear. |
