School Funds

A whole new set of rules were laid down this year at SCR1 High School. And to add to that, We bought 15 Security Cameras...If we're going to buy the cameras to Watch the kids in the hallway and such...then the new rules shouldn't apply...because now you have cameras watching unfilled hallways...I can see the school board laying down rules if we didn't have cameras but come on...one or the other...The divider curtains in the gym...another waste of money...really no purpose whatsoever...The stupid bell out front & The little castle...*cough Waste of money cough*...All this money might as well be thrown in the gravel and burnt because pointless purchases are putting us in debt...It's bad enough we're a nearly under-creditted school...lets try putting money into something that will spunk the kids into enjoying school...All-Weather Track would be nice...New, more effective teaching habits could be put into play. How about new electives for students to take rather than the...same...old...yawn classes...Simply some thoughts for Scotland County.

Memphis County Fairs

I played in the Wyaconda band from 1940 to May of 1944 and we played at the Memphis Fair every year. I remember it as being a good fair. It was held in a field out Southeast of town then and since WWII I believe all of that area is now built up in homes and businesses. We visited memphis a lot to shop and my last year of high school three couples of us went to the Memphis theater every Sunday evening and then had cherry cokes at a restraunt before going home. That was before the highway by-pass was built and we had to go under the railroad through a terrible underpass and then the highway (Route 4)went right through town and down the hill to the bottoms before heading on West. I liked Memphis and am glad the Memphis Democrat provides Obits. for Wyaconda and that area. John H. Hawkins, Topeka, KS.

fair/races

I think the fair board does a good job with the fair. There are always a number of things for the whole family to enfoy. Keep up the good work. I personally enjoy the weekly races a great deal. I really enjoy the sprint cars also.

Fair/Races

I think that the we need to have a lower price on things because things seemed a little high for Memphis. Plus, I think we could do better than what we did, and more people would show up to our fair. I think the races were wonderful but like I said before they were a little high to go to them.
