There has yet to be ANY true Role-Playing Games released for the PC. Gimme a break! You say that DS's storyline sucked... so will NWN's: they're all cut from the saem lame-ass piece of "kill the monsters and get the loot" crap! I hear that NWN will feature D&D's 3rd edition ruleset... oh yeah, that's role-playing! Roll your 3d6 Hit Dice so you can attack that orc in the tavern with your +4 Holy Avenger. :( D&D is as lame an RPG as the crap that rips it off in the computer world: LevelQuest, Anarachy Onlame, all of them suck! It's like they were all copying their game formula from the same terrible cheat-sheet. The closest things to RPGs are ones that aren't even labeled as RPGs: Deus Ex, Betrayal at Krondor, etc. I don't think it takes Miss Cleo to foretell that NWN will be just like DS with the novelty of D&D pasted on it's side. |

Perhaps there are dozens of spells and weapons I will never experience, playing just the demo version, but it reminded me of Diablo 2, only in 3d. And that just can't compare to NWN's hundreds of spells, and near limitless character customizations, not to mention and inifite supply of in-game and player-created magical items. The story in NWN will own, much like the BG seires, it will be intricate, with thousands of NPC's to interact with and choices to make at every turn. The DM client will allow for thousands of online worlds... etc, etc, etc. Only another month or two at most and then I will not ever leave my PC except to work, sleep, and maybe eat. Oh wait, I do that already... Instead of tiding myself over by buying DS, I will use the $50 to go towards a new DX8 video card, which I will summarily overclock until it smokes! |
