In this age, only a small portion of the population reads books. So good books should not be made into any other form of visual media as it just encourages people to not read the book and watch the movie or the T.V series. This trend is a cause of commercialisation of literature and is a very sad situation. We should encourage reading of the book rather than create all this hype about a movie where a retarded director will cast a bunch of shallow idiots and impose his retarded interpratation of the story on us. The same happened to Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia. Honestly, all authors should take a page from David Eddings' book and not convert their literary works into other media formats. |

But weather or not Artemis Fowl is made into a movie doesn't depict their not reading the book. In fact in many cases I have found that becasue a book was made into a movie more people have decided to read it. Movies also help circulate titles of books that have been forgotten or unheard of. |

In a way you are right but I have seen many people who don't bother to read the book because they can easily know the story by watching the movie. Besides the beauty of a book is that it lets you imagine the scenes and characters. Why would anyone want to watch someone else's interpretation of the book? Its sickening that the basic charm of a book is being forgotten. The Harry Potter books were okay, but the movies absolutely sucked according to me. Why? Beacuse the director interpreted the book in a very different way. |
