the last book in the series?!

I am a FIRM fan of the Artemis Fowl series but I wonder if the most recent book, The Lost Colony, might be the last. The Opal Deception, the fourth in the series had the perfect ending to the series but Eoin Colfer decided to press on. I know that the first book in the series' opening that said that it was an account of the teenage years of the notorious Master Fowl. My question is that will the series end with him becoming an adult or will it continue on and if it does will it still be as enjoyable as when he was a twelve year old boy?
Post away!

I think/hope that the series will end when he becomes an adult, and maybe have a timeskip somewhere, where lots of interesting stuff happens, but I do not think that the series would be interesting when he is an adult.

same here. I wonder if the series will still consider him 15 or jump strait to 18 in the series because since he returned from the demon realm he lost three years and so thats the age he's supposed to be. Its all very interesting.

I think he will still be considered 15 years old. I hope so. The whole point to the 3 year time ship, was so that Minerva could be closer to his age, so they could date.

I feel like the series COULD have ended at any time EXCEPT after the Arctic Incident, because then I was DYING to know whether or not Artemis gained his memory back. I suppose they could continue going through his teenage years, but no matter how much I love the books, they are starting to get on my nerves. It has to end somewhere, hopefully with Holly and Artemis together. I love them together!

I don't think TLC should be the last book; they leave it, for once, hanging. All the other books were pretty much wrapped up by the end.

I agree. It made you worried and excited about his parents reaction when he returns to them. Will they keep him under lock and key because they though he went insane or that they must protect him from a secret society? How old are the twins? Also what will his father think when he realizes that his change in attitude was forced upon him by fairy magic? I'm particularly interested at their reaction when they realize that "Dear little Arty" was being chased by blood thirsty trolls when all they though was that he had a touch of food poisoning. Hehe... That must have shocked them.

Well please keep the blog rolling. Without you posting things it gets pretty boring.

RE: the last book in the series?!

Well, I read in an issue of my little brothers subsricption to Disney Magazine that the sixth book is already in the works. I'm not sure if thats the media or if it's the real deal, but I believe it. Besides, he wouldn't do that to his readers right after pretty much setting the stage would he??

RE: the last book in the series?!

I think that they will do one more, and only one more book in the series. i think this because when he was jumped to 18 years old, he only has 1 year left of being a teenager. and after all, he is the teenage criminal mastermind, and since he's a teen that what makes it so interesting.

oh... and also.. on some wierd blog thing by eoin colfer he said he's writing another book
:-)

RE: the last book in the series?!

ya but he is still cinsidered 14/15 years old so ye still has about 4/5 years ahead of him and i would like the series to end with holly and artemis but consider this, she is 80 years older than artemis(see books one, two or three for more info), so minerva is a good choice for artemis but also i think that holly loves artemis(third and fourth book for more info, pay close attention to spot it).thats all i have to say and keep posting, this is a very interesting topic.

RE: the last book in the series?!

I agree, this blog has been turned in an interesting direction. I also though agree with Arty Fan when they stated that the whole purpose of losing three years was to be closer in age to Menerva, who in the fifth book he already likes. I personally think that though Holly is EXTREMELY close friends with Artemis it will not turn out as anything more than best friends and perhaps associates but definitely not as gf/bf.

RE: the last book in the series?!

yeah, she is in her 80's and now that someone mentions it, holly has only expressed herself as a close friend in fourth and fifth books, like she said,"So does that mean we're friends now? Bonded by trauma?", but i am trying to look at all the options, like Butler in the beginning of the fifth book.Anyway, since minerva is a genius, i guess she and artemis will love eachother, which might mean more work for foaly!
