YAOT (yet another on-topic)

finally found something to post, or maybe I am bored, sitting here in the boonies east o Oakland...

Saw a recent commercial for Sprint, starring Terry Ferrell's husband (what does she see in that guy??)... situation is in a family room, the cell phone rings... two young teenage girls start wrestling over the phone... no hair pulling, but some very good stunt work (crashing into walls, the furniture, etc.) from two girls that appear to be no more than 15... (calling FreeStoolFan...)

Caught a repeat of Buffy tVS recently, the one where 'Dawn' gets a crush on the guy with the jacket... includes an actual hair-pulling, rolling on the ground catfight between 'Dawn' and the guy's girlfriend. Only lasts about 15 seconds, broken up by 'Buffy'... see, Josh does know how to do it... (longer, Josh, make it longer)

OK, back to your political bickering...

seen that commercial as well; very funny and I thought very well choreographed. I'm a little surprised at the violence involved, but that sibling rivalry for you, I guess. Too bad they don't resolve it in the end.

...that stuff ****es me off to no end. All the build up and everything, and then...nothing. The big let down. They had a couple scraps on the 70's show, but resort to that 60's era trick of having the two girls disappear behind the couch or something stupid like that, while the crowd cheers them on. That goofy guy named 'Kelso' always cracks me up when the girls are set to go at each other by leaping to his feet and saying stuff like "OKAY, tops off! Bra and panties - LET'S GET IT ON!"...but of course, nothing ever happens. And then there is the current trend toward Jackie Chan type choreography in movies and tv with leaps and swishing noises and fake karate kicks that no one actually fights this way in real life and more resembles a dance routine than a brawl. I hate that stuff. I see it as a bit of progress that the women are actually PRETENDING to fight at least, but still no director or writer will stoop to give us a really really good fight the way the men are allowed. You'd think somebody would hit on the idea just for the sake of DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT!...somebody creative and silly like Mike Meyers for example, could have had the girls get it on in his Austin Power flicks, I mean COME ON!...it was a parody of the Avenger and 007 spy stuff - why don't we lose the spinning kicks and knees to the nads and produce a really wild brawl with two girls for a change? They could even make it silly like when Austin fought MiniMe with all the corny wrestling moves. Even that would be better than the ****e they give us.

Your're totally correct...

That miller lite had the right idea, but still too much exaggerated punching etc. The industry is slllloooowwwly backing into this one. You'd figure one of us would be able to get into a position to greenlight such a fight, but all we get are overdressed unsexy fighting. I guess it keeps those "pimps" like GR and Crystal around to steal our hard earned cash...

Wiseguy

P.S. I would pay big $$ to see that donna the red and jackie from the 70's show wrestle in garters and stockings

Funny thing is the screen was filled with realistic fights in the 60s and 70s. There are the standards such as From Russia . . ., One Million Years B.C., and then other sexy set-tos in The Eye of the Cat, The Legend of Frenchie King, etc. The 40s and 50s had their share of tough F/F battles, too. There is this great feeling on the right side of the political spectrum that the U.S. is very liberal culturally. I would assert that the opposite is true.

Unfortunately, the trend toward the Jackie Chan crapola has been going on a long time now. I just love it when a couple of 20-something women square off and act as if they know monkey kung-fu! Yeah, right! What a thrill that is! For me, women's fighting is not sexy unless there is body contact, contact other than a foot to the knee or karate chop to the neck. Watch for Dreamlover, which should be released in the next few months. It reportedly has a lengthy, realistic fight to the death between Gina Gershon and the female star of the film.
