xp/computer questions ......

Heres my delema .
When I right click a picture to save it usually offers it in either art or bitmap
format , but most of the time can't re-open unless I use another program or something .

Sometimes a jpg gets saved as that , but I continued to find that only a few jpg's actually open when I go back to look at them.
AND even when I save things as bitmaps they don't come out and the picture shows up as an x ?!? I'm not use to this problem and its been an ongoing problem with my new pc.

What I basically do now is copy a pic and place it into a flash file . Then save the friggin things as whatever format I want but its a hassle .

I'm almost sure I configured my settings correctly with internet options in regards to opening things ... jpg, gif, ect. But for viewing its not cutting it.

Also , I can't open avi files with this stinking expensive unit I call a computer !
What site or program should I install (free)
so I can do this ?

Would like atleast one of the questions answered ... two would be even better.

I'd like to hear from people who know whats up before I do something drastic .

Help out a serialkiller would ya ?

Thanks,
JSK

RE: fun, ain't it?

No clue, never had that problem. But when I capture a pic from video for some reason it saves (auto) in this bizarre format with a long file name of all numbers like 362727_3994390001_101118938 and the stupid thing will not open in any program except Corel. Weird eh? I have to open them using Corel and saveit as something else, jpg or whatever same as you. Stupid computers.

Then tonight I install Medal of Honour 'Spearhead' in another computer, go to play and BINK! XP shuts itself off. I reboot and start to play again and BINK! XP shuts itself off again. Now the screen is blank and nothing comes up. Oh, oh, I think I might have baffed out the video card. It's probably cheap RAM thats causing the shutoffs, not the game, but just to say it again: Stupid Computers.

What a pain. XP runs great, till you change something. Then all hell breaks loose.

RE: xp/computer questions ......

Thanks for the link T ... gonna go there right now . Normally I'd do that (just go to the source) but found others with the same issues resolve them better and can usually help you more detailed.

Leege ,
Yes, same but different ! I simply can't always insure that a right click will save anything ! I wish I only had that problem of when I save pics from a movie clip and not just a basic save method.

This is why I'm asking also. Because like you said , you change one thing and the next thing ya know it takes you more time to figure out what else you just altered .

For instance a few weeks back I adjusted something and lost my ms paint program !?!
Believe me , I'm not the type to go around deleting programs unless totally nessasary.
I've tried locating it by using "find files" etc. to no avail . I rarly if ever use it so its not a huge deal , but still wonder what the F ?

Haven't begun to download any games (just yet) Virus's , bugs and the simple fact that not every game works on each system (even though they say it will)and have had problems of it messing with my system just as your is . Don't always blame your system
either !

The hight cost of technology ... the easy no hassles of the basics !

Oh well. Thanks for the replies guys and off to try and save something and see if it works. Without the use of 30 other friggin programs !

RE: xp/computer questions ......

I have Sony VAIO Desk Top and Lap Top, both of them have XP OS, and have never run into the problem you have. When I right click on the picture I have "save as" or "copy" options.

On some websites right clicking is disabled. Then I hit "print screen" button, start Photoshop 7, paste it on the stage, crop out the rest and save the photo in any format I want.

RE: Fixed the problem by smashing the F-in thing!

Yeah Harry ,
This is new to me as well (the problem that is)with saving picture as or copying.

I tried re-installing crap , went to microsoft ... went to the links that T-100 gave me and still NOTHING ! Its been atleast
3 hours or so . Basically since I came back and replied .

Normally , atleast for this pc I open a program such as flash and then copy and paste it onto the stage . That gets a bit
tiresome with all the garbage I see and seem to like at the time .

I can't say that not all the pictures don't save , but a large number of them and those mostly being jpg's.

I guess its all a matter of convienance.
And that figures ... most pictures are in the jpg format .

Thanks Harry (my fellow Murkin : )
& the rest of u .

I know what will make me feel better : )~
