Here are some of the rules you should follow in order to be good 'stewards' of the internet: 1) Do not engage with people who use profane language and crude remarks toward one another. This effectively rules out freestyle, GR, Jeff and Harry. 2) Do not bore people with repetition and the like. 3) Do not antaganize the 'hostess'. 4) Do not pretend you're someone your not. 5) Do not post ANYTHING 'off-topic' 6) Do not post anything about ex-wrestlers, previous posters or someone named Binky who just logged on. 7) Do not mention steroids, hash, meth, coke, marijuana or Tylenol 4. 8) Do not slander people of 'other races' - yes...we know who you are and where you're from and if you're a minority; its best you simply DON'T mention race at all. 9) Don't post anything you wouldn't wish your parents, siblings or neighbors to read; this is a GOOD rule of thumb. 10) Don't mention other boards. 11) Don't spell board bored...'k? 12) Don't drone on and on about obese women, ugly women, etc. All God's chillin' are beautiful...right? 13) Don't mention religion, politics or your boring ass job. No one cares, really! 14) Don't point out 'obvious' porno sites. You know which ones. Hey, if in doubt, read Justice Potter Stewarts quote again: "Pornography? Can't define it, but I know it when I see it!" 15) Don't mention men's or children's fighting sites. Again, this eliminates freestyle. Now, this is, would you not agree, a good start on proper internet message board etiquette? Reminds me of the old joke about the guy who just made his first billion starting his own religion (from: Hudson & Landry): Interviewer: "So you say if someone joins your church they never have to die?" $$$Preacher: "yep, that's what I'm a tellin' ya." Interviewer: "So, no one in your church has ever died?" $$$Preacher: "Never said that. Billy Bob died, cuz he violated a tenet of the church..." Interviewer: "Which was????" $$$Preacher: "Thou shalt not walk in front of a movin' train..." Interviewer: "So, if someone violates a rule of your curch, they die? How many rules do you have?" $$$Preacher:"Oh, 'bout 15,000 of 'em. Caint hardly move without breakin' onea them thar commandments!" Sound familiar??? Well, the most important thing to me is: If you're going to write some nonsense on the Internet, please make every effort to make your comments amusing and easy to read for the reader, if you actually hope to have people read what you say. Be funny, be original, be creative, don't just drone out some boring platitudes you learned from watching Television, you must amuse and engage the reader by dazzling us with your wit and wisdom. Or, as best you can. I realize it's hopeless for some of you Minky's but you can at least try to put some effort into it. |
