Killers and Killed

No, I'm not writing of our own beloved JSK, but of the next "phase" of the trial of one John Lee Malvo and John Mohammed, the Washington, DC snipers.
First phase, ah yes! The brilliant and profound William F. Buckley, Jr., Publisher & Editor at large of The National Revue - a 'must read' for some some here I'd say - notes that the 'trial' is about to become an Iraqi-like "quagmire" (the kind you lefties like) in that many months and perhaps years will pass before either of these men (unlike Teddy, I'll not call them Neanderthals) will be zapped into eternity, courtesy of the state.
Twasn't so in 1901, after Pres. Wm McKinley was shot. His assassin was caught, tried and executed in months.
Now, notes Buckley, we have one years wherein we have excused and aquitted a black former star athlete from the murder of his ex-wife and boy-friend and just recently excused and acquitted a white millionaire who cut up his most recent corpse and tossed it into the water.
Anyway, it's stuff like this, my fluffies, that causes 'Murken murders...not GUNS.
It's two classes we've created: The killers and the killed. As Buckley wrote, "The disproportion in public attention to the two classes, killers and killed, continues to hobble America."

& we sit around, awaiting the arrest of Mikey J. As I said earlier, just toss the parents some large green and be done with it. Sure. Would they arrest this prick?!
We're good at creating classes. We should be better at continuing the great traditions of thinning out the herd by whacking bad guys and keeping pediphiles away from our kids. We could be doing far worse and I suspect we usually do.

RE: Killers and Killed

Haven't I seen Legion write "thinning the herd" several times? Why do people on this board use not only the same rhetoric but even the same language in many cases? Strange indeed! Fortunately those two classes, into one of which we all supposedly fall, in actuality comprise maybe 1 U.S. of the population. And while there are clearly instances where the lawyers of death-row inmates have postponed the inevitable far beyond any reasonable limits, I would prefer our society err on that side rather than the other. It seems that convicted killers are freed every month or two after new evidence has been brought forth. Besides, we still manage to execute more of our people than any country in the Western hemisphere.

Truth be told, Steve, I guess it's because legion and I both like Dennis Miller and that's Miller's line from way back.
Don't know any other way to say it, but you liberals truly do amaze me! Tell me, do you mourn for the 'unborn' or other victims of abortion? They, of course, have done nothing to anyone else. Can you say the same for Mohammed? Personally, I'll be glad when the execute the SOB. I guess you can say it'll bring "closure" to the families of this evil prick.
I'm not Roman Catholic and I do think the government should - at the national level - stay out of abortion; but at least the Vatican, being anti-abortion and anti- capital punishment, is consistent.

"Don't know any other way to say it, but you liberals truly do amaze me!"

Actually I'm not really a liberal. I try to make up my mind on issues by myself without the coloring of any set ideology.

"Tell me, do you mourn for the 'unborn' or other victims of abortion?"

Nope

"Personally, I'll be glad when the [sic] execute [Mohammed] the SOB."

I won't be glad about someone dying, but I do think that execution is probably the just penalty for his crimes.
