Why should they get paid?

So, those sorry azzholes Germany, Russia and France are coming with their hands out, heads high, eh? Sorry comrades, nazis and mon freres but remember, this was a unilateral decision, hmmm? We made this mess, thanks but you can keep your shovels. Now you've shown just how your hypocrisy has no end. You didn't want us invading your biz partner Iraq and now that everythings fudgulated up, you think it's cool to make some cash on the deal? Don't think so, doesn't work that way. Oh, and those WMD? Do you think they might be making an appearance in late September, early October 2004? Just in time for the election!!! And you think Dubya is so stupid. Rembember, he's got an MBA. He knows all the tricks.

stick it up your azz

RE: Why should they get paid?

...at the same time, the Shrub cries for help and asks the same countries he just told to fark off to forgive billions worth of debt owed by Iraq.

Now you can fark off.

Bush is right on one; wrong on the other...

When it came time to be counted on to overthrow Hussein, Russia, Germany, and France (and Turkey) felt they'd rather be counted out.

I have no problem with that. Although all the WMD are not there (it's really no use doing any more searchin'; they (except for some residual evidence that turned up, e.g., two or three dozen barrels with toxic chemical residue; the skeletal beginnings of a possible bio/chem/nuclear lab; the remains of some long-range missiles; etc.), again, they really AREN'T there. Not arguing with anybody who says, "Well, just because we haven't found any WMD by now still doesn't mean Hussein never had any.". In addition, bio/chem/nuclear/radiological WMD themselves need take up only a relatively small space for storage. This is all quite true, but so far anything that someone hopes to find just doesn't look like it's going to surface.

Bush in his heart probably already knows this.

That said, he's still fully justified in pulling the welcome mat from those countries that now want to get into the profits and/or benefits of Iraqi reconstruction. If you want to stick around for the party, you should have helped out in getting ready for it, or else take your invitation and chuck it in the Tigris or Euphrates rivers.

On the other hand, Bush is also fully justified in asking the U.N. or other countries help in non-reconstructive areas (humanitarian aid; security patrolling, etc.). A progressive, peaceful, stable, and safe Iraq is as much of an international and political benefit for them as it is for us. It's of course solely up to them if they want to participate or not. If not, no bad feelings.

Bush IS on the wrong track to ask that Iraqi loans be forgiven scot-free, for us or for anybody else. Nobody wants to put Iraq through the ringer, and nobody's saying loan repayment has to be put on the fast track. Now's not the time for that, but eventually Iraq will again be able to re-pay what it owes. I don't need my tax dollars supporting or supplanting any petro-dollars, and neither does anybody else in any other country.

RE: Why should they get paid?

I think while George is at it he should tell them to pay something for Iraq and something to us. All the countries you mention owe us money ! Geez , take the damn money if they are offering it . Shows how some countries will wait til others clean the mess and then get out of things simply with money. Very little compaired to what others have paid !

And before anyone complains that the United States owes these countries ... we do , but they all do more . Its an endless tab that in the end we get porked over with .

I haven't heard these countries are finally going to kick it in ? Finally some good news and something a long time coming !!!

Thanks again Johny Forigners ,

RE: Why should they get paid?

I agree that these countries shouldn't get any of the spoils. They were happy to let the US go it alone. They didn't want to upset their financial applecarts. These countries were happy to let the sanctions work; yeah the sanctions that were strangling Iraq. As much as it sucked that we had to force more suffering on the people, at least it set up an endgame. No more Saddam, no more sanctions, get the oil machine up and running etc. Iraq will be making plenty of money when and if the US pulls out and the oil machine gets to pumping. France and co don't really need to forgive the debts, but it would show a lot of class and would get Iraq going a lot quicker.
