| Posted By: alfonsothefan Posted On: Feb 17, 2004 Views: 295 | RE: BushCo = scumbags / read the truth Actually, our "once beautiul country" is much cleaner, our lakes and rivers much less polluted, our skies/air have become much better than when Bobby Kennedy was alive. Oh, it's true! As John Stossel has pointed out, you can now swim in the East River in New York (never could in the 60's & 70's), the skyline over LA is still filled with some smog, but not nearly as bad as the 50's and 60's. Our cities have police forces that were once all white and now integrated. While many of our cities and states have instituted tough laws against gun ownership, the communities where guns are 'everywhere' are safer than most. Crime has gone down, for the most part. Detroit, a city that once registered over 800 killings in a year, now has barely 200; way too many to be sure, but a definate improvement. While drugs and crime are on the rise in Canada's Vancouver and Toronto, they are on the decline in many cities here; I walked downtown Detroit in October, 2002, and never feared for my life -- not so in the 70's and 80's. Plenty of room for improvement, but the 'shots' of free enterprise brought about by Ronnie Reagan in the 80's is still being heard 'round the good ol' USA Ya ougtta get out more. atf |

The Great Lakes are supporting life again, and so on. And that's the point. Bush gutted all the programs that protect the environment. Five years from now you won't be able to swim in the East river again. Thanks Shrub. The Alaskan forest will never come back.
