| Posted By: Dionysus Posted On: Mar 10, 2004 Views: 360 | ShyRenee and the W32/MyDoom virus Just a warning to Renee, the Haven members and others about virus attachments being sent out under the guise of a message sent by Renee herself. I'm a bit late with this warning as the e-mail account this was sent to I very rarely check and the e-mails concerned were sent on the 8th & 9th of February. Both e-mails were sent from the address: shyrenee@ix.netcom.com with the message titles: 'Hello' & 'Test' The messages contained the text: "The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment." & "The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment." Both had a file attachment: 'document.scr' 'doc.zip' ...which are both ocet stream applications. Both contain the virus W32/MyDoom virus, an interesting if ineffective worm virus if you keep your virus definitions always up to date on your virus scanner. I have now put it in my virus zoo file with all the other baby virus' I collect for amusement. It may be just me that was targetted, but to warn members of the catfight Haven and other people who know Renee to be extra vigilant if they get sent files like this from a source masquerading as Renee herself. Unless of course Renee herself sent it after being brainwashed by my arch monochrome nemesis Doctor Chin and his many minions??? Best wishes Dio |

Your notice is appreciated for the thought, but next time try and be just a bit more punctual (like about 4 weeks, that WOULD be ever so more helpful, if you really wanna know). Current, state-of-the-art anti-virus software will AUTOMATICALLY send you Web Service Anti-virus Updates, practically as soon as you boot up for the day. But thanks for the warning, and maybe some day The Haven can scratch out the eyes of these predatory wolves on the 'Net. (Just be sure and see Renee's latest super pic of herself on Barb's Board linked from her post on the Producer's page. You'll soon forget about all those damn buggers out there, anyhow.) Cheers. Today I get a reply from the guvinator (Arnold) saying that he doesn't open attachments and I should send it by regular mail. Maybe I'll send him some pics? |
