Prediction: The Red Sox beat the Yanks & win the World Series; this from the only guy here that thought the Pistons would beat that team of cross eyed/rapists from L.A. hehe Please join me in wishing the peeps of New England well. Part of the human spirit that is amazing is he fact that a team that hasnt won a world series in a century is cocky...their fans are cocky. `Course, if their fans are anything like the ones here from Mass & environs, we `know` (wink wink) why they get so er...`high` so often and so long. Infact, each teammate gave the same "no comment" towards who they wanted to play. Ofcourse the Yankee's top list. I think its more superstitious that noone wanted to mention names of who they'll be playing sooner or later. Maybe its febal crap like that which makes us blow it in the end. I mean come on just look at Bill Buckner letting a simple ground ball go through his legs. He was 6 feet from the bag and never let that happen in his career until that faitful night. I'll never forget throwing my head back in disbelief and while doing so smashing it against the wall behind me. Then to top it off when he was traded I'd always see him featured in those " Pros show you how to field" videos. One portion of the commercial showed him easily scooping up a ball but this time he knelt on one knee so it didn't go under his friggin legs. How that man can sleep is beyond me? He must wish each year for the Sox to win just to get it from his soul. Now onto the fans. I hear more people laugh whenever those two words (world series) is brought up. I'm usually the guy that crushes everyones faith when we're doing well in the summer. " Just wait til September" I always say. Funny thing is I never said that this season!!! As for the team and fans being cocky? No, and I'm sorry if for some reason we make you feel that way Fonz. Its more like Desperate and deserving. Jerry H ... just look at how the Patriots turned the history of New England teams around. In closing I'll say the only sure win this year will be GW Bush. I'd rather be wrong about that than with the Sox. Thanks for your kind words Fonz. Time to get high ... I mean time to do something productive. Congrats to the Pats as well. btw, your Buckner comment might well be understood if you understand what Detroiters called the `Isaiah Thomas` syndrome: that is, whenever Thomas would miss a free throw or hit the free throw he would have a big smile on his face. Feeling was, that no matter if Ike hit the FT or ot it mattered litle to him, since he was still getting millions to play a kids game. Buckner may very well feel the same. I would... atf |
