(yeah i realize the fiasco in flordia kinda proves the exact opposite). back when the consitition was written, the only data stoage was paper, and every state would have to count there votes, put some guy on a horse and ride him to washington, to allow the outcome to be known. however with the advent of computers, the votes can be calculated in seconds, and sent anywhere in the US in seconds, and renders the electoral college pointless. |
