Which is your origin fellow?

It may simply be that most of us have entered the rpg and gaming arena in the glorious days of SNES,thus we pay it tribute. Oh my,we are old timers!
I voted for SNES btw because I absolutely adore FFVI. I can understand better Shadow than Cloud or that Squall wacko! "My spoiled childhood!Damn, I'll get into goth and be misanthropic!I won't be talked about in the past tense". Whoa,ok kid!

(A Link To The Past is in my heaaart....)

FFI!

II and III are kinda good, but (once again) for contuity's sake, NES for FFI. Otherwise PSX for FFT solely.

ugh

I hate FFIIj and FFIX with a passion, and FFXI isn't a real FF IMO, so its SNES no contest. =p

tough choice

I had a hard time choosing between SNES and PS2, I think IV, V, and VI all rock, but I LOVE X-2. This game is what I always envisioned ATB as being. And I am very eagerly awaiting XI. I played my friends game once and got hooked (but I don't want it on PC, and don't have a lot of money anyway, so I have to wait).
so my vote goes for PS2.

blarg. No lav for the other systems.

Meh. You people. Not givig other games chances. I mean you look at the ps games and say they suck. How can you do that. Sure I voted for the snes games but I put the ps games second after them and ff7 was the best game simply because it's fun. I mean face it. If you put too much depth into a storyline it takes away from the fun of the game. FF7 didn't have much of a storyline but the storyline it did have didn't slow you down at all and was interesting. Basicly my fav ff list goes ff6 ff5 ff7 ffmq ff9 ff8 and some other stuff

No love

SNES all the way. IX was quite good, but VIII was pretty darn bad and VII is quite possibly the most overrated game of all time. I'm surprised the PSX beat out the PS2, since X and X-2 are most excellent. I can't speak for XI, and I dislike online RPGs, but I think X and X-2 alone beat VII, VIII, and IX.

Snes rules

I know most people have put that the snes triliogy is best and it damn sure is, but in my opinion FF VII is the best one from the series, not because of its graphics, but because of its character developement and kick ass story line, also the materia system kicks arse, i mean what the hell was the drawing magic from a little fountain?! (FF VIII)

NES!

NES all the way! FFV was too depressing and FFVI's ending stinks (IMHO). FFVII and FFVIII just flat out suck. I haven't played any of the PS2 games, though...

Interesting question.

It's much easier to agree with a single game rather than a set, because often times you may find your favourite alongside your... Not-so-favourites. I picked SNES for a couple reasons...

1. I love nostalgia.
2. FFV is my favourite (Job System! Yay!), and FFVI a close second (enough characters to make a Job System and a lot of Character Involvement).
3. It was a challenge.

Even so, I have to say FFIV may not have been an awful or even my least favoured Final Fantasy, but I rank it somewhat lower these. Especially because you always had a set party.

Really, above all, I favour variety in characters. It makes for clever strategies using them, a greater choice of party and, well, interesting characters. And SNES was best because both FFV and FFVI allowed plenty of variety.

RE: Snake Eyez's comment

Yeah...it seems that the middle game strays from the path and therefore drags things down a lot of the time for a lot of people. FFIIj was very different from I and IIIj, and many didn't like it. V was a bit different from IV and VI (IV and VI had a lot of specialization and a lot of character-driven story, whereas V had a job system that let you do whatever you wanted with the characters and a story with almost no focus on the characters themselves) and some didn't like it. VIII was very different from every FF ever made, and most (not me, but many, many others) see it as the worst game in the series. And FFXI...well, I shouldn't have to explain to anyone how different that one is from the rest of the games in its trilogy (even though XII hasn't come out yet, we all know it's going to be closer to classic Final Fantasy).

Still, FFV strayed the least out of all the middle games, which in my mind makes the SNES FFs a perfect trilogy.

SNES

I woulda voted for PSX, but FF VIII kind of dragged it down. FF IV and VI are pure classics, and FF V was.....well........okay. This was a tough choice.

Trilogies as trilogies

I voted for SNES, but not because those are all my favorite FFs. Don't get me wrong, I loved them all (especially FFVI, my all time favorite game), but I loved FFIX and FFX and FFT almost as much.

I voted for the SNES trilogy because those were three games that actually seemed to be in the same series. There was a lot of overlap between story, graphics, music, gameplay...if you could play and get into one of them, you could do so for the other two very easily. This, in my mind, makes for the best "trilogy"...they work well as a trilogy, whereas the PSX and PS2 ones don't. Yes, the NES ones also fit this criteria, but the SNES ones are just better AND fit the criteria.

Old School FF rules!

While keeping in mind that there's never a "best" when it comes to tastes (we are all entitled to our opinions) I have to vote for the FF 4-6 combo, if only because, while inferior in graphics and story to their followups, had a LOT of fun things going for them: old-school charm, GREAT gameplay (I particularly loved FF5's Job system) and some great characters (including most of the FF6 cast.)

Heh.

This poll is a no-contest, but the NES getting more votes than the PS2 is funny.

Forgot an important one

I wouldn't even have listed FFIX under PSX, I would have left it out entirely. I would have put PSX - FFVII, FFVIII, and FFT. Tactics is, I'd say, the best Final Fantasy behind XI. It's the only Final Fantasy that I ever truly wanted to play more than once. Not because I wanted to find every item and do every side quest like most obsessive compulsive RPGers. I would because it is an awesome game. I'd play it repeatedly just for the storyline and storyline fights. It was just a smidgen short of perfect. My only complaint about that game is there's too many spelling and grammer errors. I wish they took the time to clean it up.
However, it makes my heart ache that they followed Tactics with a super kiddy 'sequel' for GBA. Would have been great if they followed up the original storyline of Tactics in Tactics 2 for PS2 instead of this nintendo version.
Side Note: As long as they were reviving old FF games, they should remake FFT for PS2, but fix up the dialogue and some new graphics. >
