Final Fantasy 8 final battle

FF8, battle with Artemisia(Ultimecia) in his three forms, one after another. It took me two hours and a half, thanks to the incredibly long non-interactive attack sequences of this game and to the fact that physical damages doesn't do a lot against FF8 bosses (G.F. invocation vas forbidden)

It took me fully three hours to beat Iselia Queen in Star Ocean.

Slugmess in Roron

In a (to-date) vain effort to level Nei to the point where she can lock horns with Neifirst (without cheating), I've spent HOURS on a single fight. In a battle with five Slugmess', who endure by way of some sort of mitosis, I slowly exploit (hit points, magic, and their full compliment of healing goods,) then sacrifice each player but Nei.

By having only one bar (claw) equipped, it is possible to slay (any in excess of one) slugmess as they divide, to minimize the number of attacks these Cell-like enemies can land on the party. As any veterans of Phantasy Star II will attest, 200,000+ exp and Meseta ($) rivalling that is good.

Conversely, by killing Nei (to focus the exp on everyone else *who aren't going to kick the bucket in three dungeons time*,) you can use this technique to level the party well beyond the curve, and reap a kind of elite combat advantage through to Menobe and the other prism towers on Dezo.

Kingdom Hearts Xenosaga

Kingdom Hearts I had the same problem. Along with Sephiroth... With Xenosaga, well I haven't played that in quite some time, and I also stopped playing really fast. But the fight involving Ziggy and that little girl. That was annoying. Damage delt to him ranged between 2 and 12 damage, where as he kept up in the hundreds.

Kingdom Hearts Ice Titan

Kingdom Hearts against Ice Titan, I was just avoiding the Ice darts and didn't realise that you could hit them back to the Ice Titan, well i did discover it in that battle. I lost too. the next was quicker and i won it.

BoF4, LoD, BG2

Breath of Fire 4's set of final bosses took me an hour to take out. (Fairly) tough stuff too. Better than most FFs.

In Legend of Dragoon, all but the first boss battle took about an hour or more. That game was very stupid.

Baldur's Gate 2 sometimes has tactically tough end battles, where you must methodically think and pause every few rounds and plan some more.

I dunno, I guess OB and FFT have long scenarios, but not true boss battles.

Hours of 'Fun'

I've faced some of those creepy long battles, but in all honesty, I am required to admit that I suffer from this problem where I don't level up nearly as much as I should. I never reached level 70 when I was playing FF8, which is rather odd from what other people tell me. I beat FF7 with my characters at something like level 58. FFT was finished with characters more like level 55. My battles end up taking a long time, but I still win them, so apparently I've got the tactical part of my brain working great, now if only I could fix the part that tells me that levelling up means walking between towns...

Several Times

-The Egg in Saga Frontier 2. I kept killing its forms and it kept coming up with more. I lost, btw.

-The Azi Dahakas in FFX2. They gave me MORE trouble than the final Boss, AND my characters were in their high 90's at the time! (And yes, I know about the "killer" attacks in X2 -I used them to finish off the Bosses in the 101-level dungeon- but I de-equipped them for the last dungeon, as I wanted a challenge. I got it.)

-Emerald Weapon in FF7 took me a long time to kill, too. (To say nothing about Ruby Weapon, which I could NOT kill.)

-Several Wild Arms Bosses, in particular the Ragu O' Ragulas (except WA3's, never did reach the bottom of the Abyss.)

-And quite a few more. Some battles were long because I INSISTED on trying to kill them using the wrong class/ability combinations... I can be stubborn. But, that's OK because I enjoy long fights (long as they are interesting!) Best Ever: Wild Arms 2's series of final battles.

LONG BATTLES

Regarding FFT: Apparently you haven't learned the art of class management. If you know how to set up your team the longest battle is proly one to level up or Bethla Garrison's sleuice(Icky fight, have to crystalize the darn knights and avoid the summoners).

Regarding SO2: Bosses with millions of HP? yeah that takes a while, especially if you don't abuse Multi-Hit Killer moves(Mirror slice for one)

Regarding Arc the Lad: I've never had the pleasure to play it, though from the sound of it yeah it's gonna take a while

Regarding WA3: Even with the Violator the hidden bosses are problematic, and the final boss takes just a little while with 10 incarnations.

In FF3 I understand a person with a completely normal party(not uber leveled, not FEOK, not hacked)beat up all 65535 hp of Nepto.

I myself nominate the Ogre Battle series as long as you count each scenario as a "battle". I didn't like trying to punch my way through all 11 of Gareth. Stupid clone happy jerk.

Kingdom Hearts

My brother beat the dragon in Kingdom Hearts in about 45 minutes, without doing any actual fighting.

Final Fantasy Tactics

Almost any battle in that game took half an hour, and that if you didn't want to wait for your enemies crystals :S

Arc the Lad 2...

The Dark One me over an hour the first time. It ain't fun taking off ~15000 total hp 100-200 at a time. Though Tosh was doing more like 300-600, being the awesomeness that he is.
