RE: Free music downloading

I go with morpheous. (spelling)

All music downloaders have spyware. Thats how they stay in buissness. Use Addaware or spybot. Get them from download.com

As far as the free music is conserend, I download a album and see if I like it. If I do then I buy it. Weather or not I buy it dosent matter. The companies like winmx, kazza, morpheous, bareshare, and others have advertising banners. They get paid and I have to see adversisments. It's not my fault that they don't use that money to pay the recording studios. Besides, someond had to buy it in the first place for it to be on there.

I was wondering, what other use is there for a CD-R drive? Why not go after the million dollar companies that make these burning tools? You cant. VCR's don't come up under this crap, nor do DVD-R's.

RE: Free music downloading

Sneaky,
Unfortunetley, it's not only the musicians who are being hurt by people illegally downloading music. I can't exactly say I'm against it because I have 30,000 MP3's at my disposal, but you gotta at least be able to see both sides. People stop buying CD's for whatever reason, hurts record stores. Bad record store sales hurts CD promoters/producers. When they start feeling the heat then they stop recording as many CD's. THAT is when it starts hurting the artist, but it hurts everyone else before them before the artist even notices the lack of their $15.00

And dragonmaster, there are other uses for a CD-R, which is why they cant really stop them from being made. If they have a legit reason to be produced, which has a useful legal purpose, there is nothing they can do about it.

RE: Free music downloading

I have used winmx for years. There is no spyware, there are no ads.

The problem with winmx is that it can be a little slower than other programs, and some stuff is rather hard to find. It’s not a really popular program.

And as a side note…In Canada, downloading music is not illegal.

Why do I have a feeling Sure is going to jump on this?

RE: Free music downloading

Keep taking it for free, PLEASE. Maybe that will discourage the next generation of no talent morons from cutting an album in the first place.

RE: Free music downloading

Syrgot,

But Like I said, the companies get money from the advertisments and spyware that they bundle with the music downloaders. They could use that money to pay the studios and artists.
As far as the music stores, thats where I buy CD-R's, CD players, cleaners, and headphones, thye can be loosing to much money.

Your right about the CD burner. What I should have said is the programs that let you burn music.

Aurora,

It will be that way here soon to. People here are realy slow to jump on anything good. It's supposed to be about the music anyway. They should get paid for what they do yes, but how many artists do you know that start out by saying "Only for the moneys do we sing and write music, we don't like it."

opdm,

People like Britney Spears and many others that Kareoke to songs written by other people have little tallent. Worse yet is a singer who "samples" a song in its complete form. (Ecept for Shout 2000)
I like the artists like Any Lee, Korn, Linkin Park, Stained, and System Of a Down (they crack me up). I like a wide viriety of music. Anything but country and bluegrass (shudders).

RE: Free music downloading

I'm so sorry for rambling on.

Does anybody have 1,000 bucks I can borrow for a few weeks? Thats what I have left on my bill at school and cant go back till it's paid. Looks like I'm taking a semester off, course thanks to workstudy and the new resturaunt, school is also my source of income now, I might as well kill myself now.

RE: Free music downloading

how can you not like bluegrass? It has none of the bad crap of country (limited, pro-Bush subject matter; wierd voice; strange-sounding string instrument; etc.) with everything good about Ska. It's like the ska of country. without trombones. but they have some mega-bass singers anyway. I agree that 99% of country sucks, but bluegrass? you mujst be either deaf or brainwashed.

RE: Free music downloading

I like Kazaa Lite. All of what's great in Kazaa without the spyware or pop-ups.

I will mention here though that Walmart has an online music store. Downloads are only 88 cents per song or less than $10 for an album. Transfers are really fast and you dont have to worry about bad files, bad connections or people terminating mid stream. It's real easy and almost makes it worth *paying* for music. (did I just say that??)

cons: no porn. that's what Kazaa Lite is for!

Knoxquers, I just don;t like it. The dewling bango thing is pretty funny though. I just don't like music that mathes my spelling.

Dude, I didn't know that wal-mart had a music downloader. I'll have to check that out. I wonder if I'll get a discount for being a former employee?

RE: Free music downloading

Well I guess my earlier post was a bit harsh. There are some true artists out there. IMHO, there aren't nearly as many as there used to be though.
I also don't think the artists are making any money resulting from the banner ads and pop-ups on the download sites. I regard those things the same as spam. Does anybody actually click on any of those stupid, flashing "you've won!!!" banners? I know I don't. If they throw a "pay for porn" ad on there and people sign up, maybe the porn place gives the site you linked from a portion of the money but the download site is not giving anyof it to the artists or record companies.
