Dragonmaster, we love you! Hey, have you ever gone to Hot Topic? They have all kinds of cool stuff for goths, the only problem, is that it is pretty expensive! They also have Happy Bunny, Hello Kitty and Care Bears.

Agh I hate hot topic they have some cool stuff but they create the image for people that people used to do for themselves. Example No one around my town wore Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars until hot topic was like we got chucks buy em and be cool. now everyone has chucks and they dont have a reason to buy the goofy ass shoes they just do cause hot topic says its cool. But they do have some funny shirts. Spoelling and grammer errors to lazy to fix so **** you

Happy Bunny, now thats some funny stuf.

I havent tried Hot Topic yet. They are realy expencive. A 3x vegan trench coat would cost me over $400 there. Forget that. They are also getting popular, isn't that against what i goth is trying to do?

Oh, I guess I should say something about the kittens. They are getting big. I wish I had access to a digital camera so I could get some pictures of them, but all well. I have a $350 camera that my aunt got for me a few years ago, but I cant afford the $11 batteries that go in it. Anyway, they are what, four weeks old now? They are starting to eat solid food and keeping me up at night playing.

lol, even I cannot resist their cutness.

Plz dont do goth!! All the goths i know are really dumb fat kids that try to use goth as an excuse for being retarded and obese. Since when is trench coat goth?? i think the matrix was doin trench coats before goths and if not the germans deffinatly were and im pretty sure there both not goth.

Weren't the goths originally from Germany, or at least that area? I'm sure they were one of those barbarian hordes that finally caused the Roman empire to call it a day. Back in those days they probably didn't have the trenchcoats and crappy music though.

Welcome back, by the way. Why not sell your digital camera on ebay and buy a cheaper one, then use the profits to buy batteries?

RE: Yay, I'm back. (sarcasm anyone?)

Goths= Germanic tribes, one faction of which was the first to sack the city of Rome. FYI: http://www.fact-index.com/g/go/goths.html

Goth subculture= Movement that's been going on for a coupla decades, usually defined by a common philosophy and fashion. See: http://www.fact-index.com/g/go/goth.html

Some people trace the roots of Goth fashion etc. to Victorian-era "darkness," those freaky 19th century people's apparent obsession with religion, mourning, and death, combined with the general hypocrisy of the age (a culture that demanded extreme moral prudishness while relying on prostitution, child labor, and colonialism for economic survival). Think Jack the Ripper. The devil inside, kinda thing. Madness & stuff. Pretty sure that ties in with the whole Anne Rice "I'm a vampire" thing but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

How Roman-era Germanic people tie in with Victorians, I think, has to do with architecture. And some other stuff. Might be completely wrong, tho.

That's my bit of nerdular nerdage for the day. Cheers!

My own personal theory on goths.

Gothic people are the result of advertising. Advertising shows a bunch of colorful perfect people that we should be just like. Gothic people realize this image is unattainable and well just crap. So they rebel outwardly by wearing black and piercing there faces and trying to be the oppisite of the unattianable perfect image. my theory but its probly wrong maybe they were shunned by people and want to be the oppisite but i do think goth people are a bunch of social rejects banded together to show people its not perfect and happy.

RE: Yay, I'm back. (sarcasm anyone?)

I was in Prague in the Czech Republic in June. There were a lot of "goths" there. Well, there were lots of kids dressed in black and taking black and white photos of buildings and cemetaries. But well, you get to see that in New Orleans too. I remember when I was 18-24, The Cure was THE goth thing to sway/dance to. I wonder whatever happened to that part of the movement...

Glad to see you back DragonMaster. Good luck with the goth thing. It's not my bag, but if it helps you to have a community to turn to (as it does most people) then good for you for trying to find someone/some people who suit you.

My fiance used to get trenchcoats at thrift shops, but if you need larger sizes they can be pricey. Keep looking around online, I'll mention it if I find anything for you.

yeah, definitely good to see you back with us, Dragonmaster. I've been on a miniature hiatus as well but I find a little time every week to check up on the boards.
